“The invasion of Katina is a textbook example of a Venom assault. The first enemy objective is to establish air superiority. Since Andross's Invader IIs are inferior to Cornerian fighters, the enemy will overwhelm the defenders with huge numbers. As Saucerer flies over primary targets, air defence units are lured into meeting the first wave of Invader IIs. A larger wave of enemy fighters then swarms out of Saucerer and eliminates the preoccupied defenders. With the skies clear, Saucerer deploys its Core Weapon and commences with the second objective: the complete annihilation of hapless ground units. At the end of the battle, shock troops are dropped to enslave any survivors.” —Lylat Datalink; Anatomy of an invasion, pg 68 The Cornerian Fighter was the backbone fighter aircraft in the Cornerian Army during the Lylat Wars, often deployed by carrier or surface base. They are often seen on most Cornerian bases and fleets, such as Katina for example. It was multi-purpose fighter designed for many different types of missions like steath or assault, and is customizable based on the users strengths/weaknesses.
Contents[show] HistoryEdit During the Lylat Wars, weak versions of these fighters were produced en-mass at an astonishing rate to combat the massive numbers of the Venomian Army. It was the easiest to pilot for untrained cadets, and thus the most used fighter at the time. With its modest shielding, armor, and performance, it could can stand toe-toe against nearly all threats before the invasion by Andross. The Invader II Assault Fighters suffered from numerous design flaws and were vastly inferior to Cornerian Fighters. To overcome their shortcomings, Andross had ordered all Invader IIs to be painted with Cornerians markings to confuse the Star Fox Team's target priorities, nearly managing to fool all but the advanced Targeting Computer. The beleaguered Cornerian Defense Force was nearly exhausted from holding back wave after wave of enemy fighters.
In the gamesEdit Star Fox 64/3DEdit “Fox! Thats one of ours!” —Bill Grey In Star Fox 64 and its remake, depending on which path you take, you can go to Katina and help Cornerian Fighters fight off the Venomian Army. Although you won't get points for them, shooting down ships from the Bulldog and Husky squadrons won't affect your chances of getting a medal. Should the player complete a full round of gameplay, having flown through Katina of course, Bill Grey will reappear during the credits, flying above Fox and Peppy's Arwings as the Star Fox team leave Venom. Peppy Hare is the only pilot (with the exception of the player) who will mistakenly shoot down a Cornerian Fighter during the battle of Katina. He will realise his mistake by saying Enemy down... Wait! That was one of ours!. If the player manages to clear the battle of Katina without shooting down any Cornerian Fighters, the dialogue between Bill and Fox will change to a more positive conversation. Following Star Fox's triumphant return to Corneria, Several Cornerian Fighters fly ahead of the Great Fox, leaving behind rainbow smoke trails in celebration of the war's ending.
Enemy ReconEdit “Corneria Fighters are not enemy aircraft, but many rookies mistake the aircrafts' markings for Venom's Invader Assault Fighters. Your Arwing combat computer can identify Corneria Fighters and will not lock on them.” —Official Nintendo Power Player's Guide, pg 67 Katina's Top GunsEdit “Katina's Frontline Base is home to some of the best fighter jocks in the Lylat System, including the decorated pilots of the prestigious Bulldog and Husky units. Since veteran pilots are in short supply, these aces are a prized asset to the Cornerian Fleet. General Pepper will be very disappointed if you accidentally shoot one down.” —Official Nintendo Power Player's Guide, pg 67 Star Fox: AssaultEdit The new improved Cornerian Fighters appear throughout the Battles of Fortuna, Corneria and the Beltino Orbital Gate. Their appearnace greatly resembles that of the Star Fox Team's Arwings and will not be so easily damaged by their firepower this time, presumably due to past errors. Several surviving Cornerian Fighters attended the Star Fox Team and Cornerian Army's invasion of the Aparoid Homeworld, but the millitary was forced to retreat at 20% in casualties. The invasion force returned to the Lylat system as soon as missing ships and personnel were searched out and recovered. These fighters have only a single laser cannon and are rather slow (except in scenes where they are seen boosting to an impressive speed), but make up for it with sheer durability, almost nothing can destroy one (short of crashing into obstacles, which will destroy them instantly in a purple explosion).
Star Fox CommandEdit The generic Cornerian fighter got a slightly different look 11 years later in Star Fox Command with its wings tilted upward instead of down. Bill Grey mainly pilots the fighter in the game, but depending on certain paths you take, Krystal may also fly one. However her fighter is colored different being a shade of purple and green.

“Fox, the military situation on Corneria is deteriorating! Andross's advance forces have finally breached our defences and are assaulting the capital! We've held them back for as long as possible, but now we need your help! The main thrust of Andross's attack on Corneria is centred around the old army base in Corneria City. Approach the city through the southern canyon- this should give you the element of surprise. Take out all the fighters and ground forces. Beware of falling rubble from the buildings of the city, and watch out for berserk construction robots!” —General Pepper's Flight Log, pg 26 Corneria is the fourth planet of the Lylat system, is an Earth-like terrestrial farming world with a variety of climates and terrains, more than the vast majority of planets in the Lylat System. It is the homeworld of the Cornerians. Many of the inhabitants live in the shelter of the mountain ranges, where very productive farming soil can be found.
Contents[show] OverviewEdit Corneria is currently home to an estimated 85% of the total sentient population of the Lylat system but, due to careful planning, remains a verdant garden world. Its cities and industry were built while keeping in harmony with nature, allowing its rich ecosystem to flourish. It is implied from Star Fox Assault that some military bases might be Cornerian-made islands. Roads on Corneria seem to be built above the ground as to allow the plant life to thrive, and from space the planet looks to have a large amount of cloud cover and oceans. It is the center of culture and government of the Lylat system, and is a prime target for those seeking conquest over the galaxy.
Planetary CompendiumEdit “The temperate world of Corneria is known as the jewel of the Lylat system. Although the planet is home to 85% of the Lylat system's population, its industry and cities are built in harmony with nature. Corneria is the center of government, culture and politics for the Lylat system.” —Star Fox 64.com “The geology of Corneria may not seem like the most exciting topic in the Lylat System, but the porous, volcanic stone of Corneria has shaped the planet's history in many ways. Everywhere you go on the planet, you'll find that caves, tunnels, stone arches and crevices have been carved from the rock by the planet's many streams and rivers. Thoughout history, Cornerians have used these rocky refuges to hide from their oppressors. In times of war, the citizens flee to the hills and huddle far beneath the ground, safe until the fighting ends. Entire cities have been built in the larger cave systems to house the refugees. When the war ends and the people return home, they call it "rocking out".” —Lylat Datalink; Corneria Rocks pg 31 HistoryEdit Lylat WarsEdit Despite the relatively peaceful nature of its citizens, Corneria has always been a prime target for attack. In earlier times, the original Star Fox team, led by James McCloud, protected the world as mercenaries, with the help of the Cornerian Army. After James' apparent death, the renegade Andross struck against Corneria without warning after amassing an impressively large army. Due to the fact that a war from space had essentially never been waged on the planet before, and the fact that the military forces of the planet were small because the need for them had seemed absent, the Cornerian Army was largely unprepared for the attack. Thus, the army was unable to defend Lylat on its own. The responsibility then fell upon General Pepper to contact the new Star Fox team led by James' son, Fox McCloud, to intervene and save the Lylat system. Vanguard forces of the Androssian Army breached Corneria's defenses, but their advance through an old Cornerian military base was halted by the Star Fox team. Andross' forces were defeated on Corneria, saving the planet from further destruction.
The people of Corneria spent the next few years recovering and rebuilding, attempting the bring the planet back to its former glory. Several cites were hit hard by the attack, some being totally demolished. Roads had to be rebuilt and oceans had to be cleaned, among other things. Andross' forces, in all likelihood, fled the planet after Andross was defeated.
Aparoid InvasionEdit Nine years passed after the Lylat Wars before the crisis involving the Aparoids, which was a completely different scenario. Striking in vast numbers with superior firepower, the Cornerian Defense Force took many casualties. The crazed aliens were able to rush past the planet's defenses and go planet-side within minutes of the attack. The problem was worsened by the fact that the Aparoids could control any soldier they came in contact with. In addition, General Pepper eventually went missing: In actuality, he ended up infected by the Aparoids. When Fox arrived on the planet to retake it from the Aparoids, he was so shocked at the events that he even initially wondered whether it actually was Corneria before proceeding with his mission. With air support from the rest of the team, Fox was able to destroy several of the alien radar jammers that disrupted the Arwings' sensor systems, making it hard for
them to tell the difference between friend or foe. When Fox's demise was at hand, he was saved at the last minute by his rival, Wolf O'Donnell. Armed with a Plasma Cannon and riding on the wing of the Wolfen, Fox was able to destroy the majority of the Aparoid forces, including those that had possessed General Pepper and his flagship.
The Orbital Gate directly above Corneria was the next target of the Aparoid attack. The leftover members of the Cornerian Defense Force and the Cornerian Army, in concert with the Star Fox team, held off the attacking aliens and missiles while the Science Division, headed by Slippy Toad's father Beltino Toad, worked on the Self-Destruct program. This program was literally a "bomb" which could be used to wipe out all of the Aparoid forces after being injected into the Aparoid Queen.
The ending revealed that the sudden strike from the Aparoids left the planet heavily damaged, and that the population suffered, though the individuals who had the time would presumably have retreated into the caves for safety. Due to the unexpectedness of the attack, however, the Aparoids were able to do a massive amount of damage in their short time on the planet. Fortunately, the residential areas suffered the least damage with attacks being aimed mostly at military island outposts. According to the post-war briefing, Corneria's destruction level was an A+, and the Aparoids were expunged. After the war, the Beltino Orbital Gate becomes the center of government for Corneria while the planet is being rebuilt from the invasion. The time of peace that followed was at first somewhat chaotic, with the people of the planet doing their best to recover quickly from the damages.
Anglar BlitzEdit Almost two years after the Aparoid crisis was resolved, the planet was again invaded by a hostile alien race, this time the Anglars, a race of fish-people from the toxic Venom seas. It was briefly under occupation before Fox McCloud defeated the Anglars, but the fate of the planet afterwards is shrouded due to the multiple endings of Star Fox Command.
In the ComicsEdit Star Fox Comic Corneria appears in the Nintendo Power comics based on the original Star Fox title's continuity, where the planet is again under attack from Andross and his forces.
Star Fox 64 manga Corneria appears as the first location in the Star Fox 64 manga, where the Star Fox Team begin their missions. Giving the order to ship out into the fray, the Star Fox Team check their Arwing conditions, each giving themselves clearance before arriving at Corneria City. Taking out the squadron leader, Fox is the first to be chased by Venomian Tripod Fighters, with Peppy coming to his aid. Much like the games, Slippy is chased by numerous starfighters, but shakes them off using a Barrel Roll at Peppy's advice. The team eventually reach Granga, discovering that he is fully armed with missiles and grenades. Slippy scans Granga for weaknesses and suggests to Fox that a shot to the leg will destroy him. Fox makes a successful shot with one hit, causing Granga to topple over to his destruction.
A few days later, upon their return to Corneria, General Pepper is eternally greateful for Star Fox's contributions and offers to have them in the Cornerian millitary and make Fox the Cornerian Minister of defense. Fox declines believing that they work better as a small quick group than an army. They announce that they need to get back to work and that Katt is waiting for Falco, but Fox promises that the Cornerian Army can always count on them.

The Bulldog Squadron was a famous squadron of fighter pilots in the Cornerian Defense Force during the Lylat Wars.
Contents[show] HistoryEdit Katina was home to some of the most elite and prized asset pilots to come out of the Cornerian Flight Academy, where the Bulldog Squadron was put to the test during Andross's invasion, because they had been a thorn in his side for a long time. The squadron, alongside the Husky Squadron, were simultaneously commanded by Bill Grey. The squadron was stationed on the planet Katina when Andross struck, and though their Cornerian Fighters and training gave them superiority over the Venomian Invader II Fighters, sheer numbers threatened to overwhelm them. Because the beleaguered Cornerian Defense Forces were nearly exhausted from holding back wave after wave of enemy fighters, the Bulldog and Husky Squadrons needed the Star Fox Team's help to deal with a gigantic enemy mother ship, having been detected on its way to the planet, after Bill Grey informed Corneria command of the situation. Luckily, the timely arrival of the Star Fox Team gave them the edge and the invasion force was destroyed, saving the planet and the squadron from destruction. The Bulldog Unit, during Star Fox's involvement in the battle, was commanded to prevent any fighters from breaking through.
Katina's Top GunsEdit “Katina's Frontline Base is home to some of the best fighter jocks in the Lylat System, including the decorated pilots of the prestigious Bulldog and Husky units. Since veteran pilots are in short supply, these aces are a prized asset to the Cornerian Fleet. General Pepper will be very disappointed if you accidentally shoot one down.” —Official Nintendo Power Player's Guide, pg 67 Medal TipsEdit “Try to shoot down as many enemy ships as you can before the mother ship arrives. Although you won't get points for them, shooting down ships from the Bulldog squadron won't affect your chances of getting a medal. When the mother ship arrives, destroy the hatches but leave the core until the last possible second. Spend as much time as you can destroying enemy fighters. Lock on to enemy targets as much as possible because you can get bonus hits that way. Even though it seems like there are many targets here, this can be a difficult mission to earn a medal in.”

The City is often the site of enemy threats, for it was assaulted during the Lylat Wars, the Aparoid Invasion, and the Anglar Blitz and was overrun by the opposition until Star Fox and their allies arrived to reclaimed it. The main thrust of Andross's attack on Corneria was centered around the old army base in Corneria City.

Cornerian Film Festival A message to clean up Zoness Seafood Advertisment Limousine Service Sauria Development Versus ModeEdit Star Fox 64Edit This stage is available in Point Match and Battle Royal. There are only some pyramids and buildings on this otherwise simply flat stage. The players have no vehicle restrictions.
“This battle site is modelled after a typical area on Corneria. The buildings aren't grouped tightly, but they do provide cover from enemy fire. There are items hidden amount the arches and other structures (marked by the stars on the map), so you'll also be bale to practice stunt flying and emergency manoeuvres. If you choose to drive a Landmaster, the pyramids are good shields against ariel attack.” —Official Nintendo Power Player's Guide, pg 115 Star Fox: AssaultEdit The tall skyscrapers make ideal hiding places for snipers, meaning players will need to use their radar to locate their opponents.
Get something in between you and your opponent. There is lots of cover so being in a hidey hole is fine. Stay out of the open if possible, but if you are in a Landmaster, try going to the large forest near the edge of the map. Try to stay near the central hub, because that is where you will find the best weapons. If there are no Gunships in play, try moving to the upper track. It's wide open, and hard to get a kill, but you can navigate the map safely from there with the exception of the Missile Launcher, and it is a good sniping position, so you can keep your opponent pinned down, with the albeit small chance of killing him/her, and if he/she retaliates, you can have a completely safe piece of cover. For obvious reasons, do not run on the roads for extended periods of time in the event there is a gunship or sniper in play. In addition, be very careful while in the tree sections of the map, as players tend to destroy the trees to deny cover.
