🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Goldbug.jpgGOLDBUG ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT SUB-GROUP: THROTTLEBOT FUNCTION: ESPIONAGE DIRECTOR FIRST APPEARANCE: G.I. JOE AND THE TRANSFORMERS # 4 (as Goldbug), TRANSFORMERS # 1 (as Bumblebee) "To know others you must first know yourself." Profile: Although the Autobot Bumblebee's body was destroyed (in G.I. JOE AND THE TRANSFORMERS # 1), his mind was still intact. A new body, similar to the old one but improved, was built. But Bumblebee resisted assuming his old role again. His brush with death had changed him: he was no longer willing to play the part of the cute, wisecracking "little brother." He no longer enjoyed the other Autobots' often patronizing attitude toward him, nor did he accept it. He now had a more serious, even darker side. Some might say he matured. So, rejecting much of his old self, he also rejected his name - Bumblebee. He wanted a new identity to go along with his new body. He chose Goldbug. He's more assertive now, a change reflected in his promotion to the Autobots' Espionage Director. He's still a very engaging, affable fellow, but sometimes he can get downright gloomy when he's working, so much so that others are put off by him. He no longer acts the way he feels others would like him to. He is no longer interested in gaining their acceptance. He has come to realize that what others think about him is not nearly as important as what he thinks about himself. And lately, he generally feels very good about himself. And thankful that he has another chance. Abilities: Goldbug is even more fuel-efficient now than he had been as Bumblebee. He gets up to 2 times more use out of a unit of fuel than any other Autobot. He's faster and has greater range. He has extremely good vision. He's an excellent eavesdropper: he can hear a pin drop on the other side of a foot-thick concrete wall. He is adaptable to underwater, cold and hot environments. He has a peak efficiency operating range from -150 to +180 degrees Fahrenheit. Weaknesses: Although stronger than he had been as Bumblebee, Goldbug is still one of the physically weakest of the Autobots.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Grapple1.jpgGRAPPLE ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT FUNCTION: ARCHITECT FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 14 "Beauty is in everything except war." Profile: Back on Cybertron, Grapple's building designs were considered works of art. He realizes that now, in an alien environment on Earth, his ideas are limited by the necessities of war. Nevertheless, he still takes enormous pride in what he does and strives for beauty and quality in all his creations. His problem is that he cares too much; he often succumbs to severe depression should one of his constructions be destroyed in the course of battle. Abilities: In vehicular mode, Grapple can lift up to 35 tons and position massive objects with uncanny precision and grace. In robot mode, he uses a high temperature arc-welder rifle that shoots a stream of concentrated infrared energy as it slices through and/or fuses its targets. He can launch explosive rockets a distance of 4.5 miles from the hand socket in each of his wrists. Weaknesses: Grapple's extreme artistic sensitivity often results in moodiness and depression, diminishing his value to the other Autobots. He doesn't adapt well to his vehicle mode which often results in mechanical breakdowns.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Grimlock.jpgGRIMLOCK ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT SUB-GROUP: DINOBOT FUNCTION: DINOBOT COMMANDER FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 4 "Among the winners, there is no room for the weak." Profile: The most fearsome and powerful of the Dinobots, Grimlock would gladly usurp Optimus Prime's role as Autobot Commander if he thought he could get away with it. For now, he's happy to tear into the enemy Decepticons whenever he can and wait for a more opportune moment to try for the leadership. He can be cold and merciless, and shows contempt for those he views as weak, such as humans and even some fellow Autobots. But he is a valiant warrior and his actions command respect from all who are witness to them, both friend and foe. Abilities: Grimlock's strength is second only to Optimus Prime's, and even that is arguable. In Dinobot mode he can use his powerful jaws to snap in two virtually anything that comes between them - from a 4-foot diameter steel cable to a Decepticon leg. In Autobot mode he wields an energo-sword, which can slice a 2-foot thick concrete wall with one sweep of its crackling blade. He also uses a double-barrelled, self-propelled rocket launcher. Weaknesses: Other than arrogance and lack of speed, Grimlock has no significant weaknesses.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐GROOVE ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT SUB-GROUP: PROTECTOBOT FUNCTION: SCOUT FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 24 "War is always a problem, never a solution." Profile: A full fuel tank, clear skies, and open road - that's all Groove wants out of life. He's relaxed and easygoing, the kind of robot that is typically happy no matter where he is or who he's with. He doesn't like staying in any one place too long, so his attachments are short-lived. But he considers every new experience enriching, so he'd just as soon move on to the next one anyway. Although he's basically a loner, Groove never forgets he's an essential member of the Protectobots team in their struggle against the Decepticons. But he detests violence of any sort, and often finds it difficult to reconcile his pacifist beliefs with his sense of responsibility to his comrades. Certain that war is not the answer, he endlessly roams Earth's highways, hoping to find out what is the answer. Abilities: In motorcycle mode, Groove can reach speeds of 140 miles per hour, with a range of 800 miles. He's extremely maneuverable. He carries twin vaporators, which shoot fine mists of various oxidizing, freezing, and corrosive liquids. The mists are emitted in a concentrated beam, so that Groove can target the vaporators on particularly vulnerable areas, such as joints and circuit connections, to disable his prey. In robot mode, Groove uses a photon pistol that shoots light bursts with the equivalent brightness of 5,000-watt light bulbs, enough to temporarily blind all but those whose optical sensors are the most heavily shielded. He combines with his fellow Protectobots to form the giant robot known as Defensor. Weaknesses: When under attack, Groove is often reluctant to fight back as he seeks a non-violent response. This sometimes puts him in considerable danger.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Grotusque.jpgGROTUSQUE ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT SUB-GROUP: MONSTERBOT FUNCTION: MILITARY STRATEGIST FIRST APPEARANCE: HEADMASTERS # 1 "If it ain't fun to do, it ain't worth doing." Profile: Everything's a joke to Grotusque, and - as he says - why shouldn't it be, when the only thing that frightens him is looking at himself in the mirror! Though he doesn't doubt Primus saw him as part of some great and noble scheme, he does wonder what his creator was thinking of when he designed his creature mode. A bit too much high grade energon the night before, is Grotusque's opinion! This goofy, irreverent outlook on life is as appealing as it is annoying to his fellow Autobots. Sometimes, just sometimes, they wish Grotusque would take something seriously. Even in pitched battle, in dire, possibly terminal situations, he's joking away. But it's not bluster to hide his fear - Grotusque is not only a topnotch warrior, his courage is legendary. No, it's that Grotusque sees life in general as a joke, and therefore sees no reason to view death any differently. "Why shouldn't combat be fun?" he's been heard to utter. "If it wasn't, I'd be loath to do it!" Though he appears on the surface to be offhand about his duties, Grotusque is a brilliant campaign planner, with a sharp and analytical mind perfectly suited to the complexities of warfare. Abilities: Though not immensely strong, and - when in robot mode - fairly plodding, Grotusque's razor sharp mind makes him a foe to be reckoned with. He wields a specially modified vaporator, designed to gassify an opponent's fuel, leaving him to grind to a full stop. His creature mode tusks are made from a hyper-dense alloy that, Autobot scientists believe, is all but indestructible. In creature mode, Grotusque can fly (using his back wings) at speeds of around 45 mph. But the process is both awkward and fuel consumptive, and he prefers to use his powerful hind legs to bound along, making leaps of around three miles at a time. Weaknesses: Grotusque's dislike of his creature mode tends to make him reluctant to use it more often than he has to. As a result, he tends to go into battle in his more vulnerable robot mode, leaving himself more exposed to possible injury. Also, Grotusque's wings are quite fragile and are easily damaged.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Hardhead.jpgHARDHEAD ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT SUB-GROUP: HEADMASTER HUMAN COMPONENT: DUROS FUNCTION: GROUND ASSAULT FIRST APPEARANCE: HEADMASTERS # 1 "It's either my way - or no way." Profile: The only way to get Hardhead to follow advice is to persuade him he came up with the idea himself. He knows only one way to do anything - his way. He's as stubborn as a Buick with a six year old battery on a cold winter's morning. He doesn't talk too much, but when he does he's usually brief and to the point, never sparing the emotions of others. Some would say he's businesslike, others would say rude. Soldiering is his life; the primary reason he left Cybertron was because he had become disenchanted with the Autobots' military tactics, not because he sought peace. On the battlefield, he's just as stubborn as anywhere else. Retreat is a dirty word to him - he'll fight until there's nothing left of his enemy... or himself. Duros is ideally matched to Hardhead. The Nebulan enjoys warfare as much as the Autobot. For years, Duros had served as the chief of security for the Nebulan Ruling Council. But he found the job fairly boring - Nebulos had been at peace for so long that the opportunity for action was rare. The binary-bonded pair quickly discovered their mutual interests and put aside any lingering distrust of each other. Of all the Autobot Headmasters, Duros and Hardhead get along the best, but Duros's eagerness to embrace warfare has alienated many of his fellow Nebulans, including most of his family. Even his wife has become estranged from him. Duros is a dependable, resourceful warrior who rarely shows emotion - to do so might reveal the pain that the wreckage of his personal life has caused him. Abilities: In tank mode, Hardhead has a maximum road speed of 155 mph. He's impervious to most armor-piercing artillery and is resistant to most thermal and electromagnetic beam weapons. His range is 450 miles. He carries a 120mm laser-guided gun that shoots a variety of incendiary, sonic and explosive shells. In robot mode, he uses two shatterblasters, guns that shoot diamond-hard crystal shards that can shred a foot-thick steel wall with one burst. His tank mode exhaust gases can melt the finish of any vehicle or robot following too closely behind him. Weaknesses: Although resistant to most exterior fire, Hardhead often suffers internal injuries from the recoil of his own weapons

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Headstrong.jpgHEADSTRONG ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON SUB-GROUP: PREDACON FUNCTION: GROUND ASSAULT FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 25 "The best advice is not to listen to advice." Profile: Headstrong doesn't listen to anybody, particularly his friends. He's so certain of himself that he doesn't acknowledge others' opinions. He's smug and arrogant, and believes that everyone would be better off if everyone minded his own business. Nothing can dissuade him once he's decided upon a course of action, no matter how foolish that course appears to be. And once he begins something his commitment is total and unwavering. Knowing that he is not as strong, intelligent or fearless as some of the other Predacons, Headstrong puts up his stubborn front as a shield to hide his deep-rooted insecurity. Still, he makes a formidable foe. The best way to attack him is not with weapons, but with psychology. Question his resolve and his abilities and he's more likely to collapse from the weight of his own nagging doubts than from a direct hit by a laser cannon. Abilities: In rhinoceros mode, Headstrong can achieve speeds of 60 miles per hour for short periods. At full speed, his horn can puncture a three-foot thick steel slab. It can also release a highly corrosive acid on contact, greatly enhancing its destructive capability. In robot mode, he uses a plasma sphere shooter, which emits a stream of glowing balls of energy that explode on contact. He also carries a diffraction sword, which bends nearby light so that an opponent can't properly see where Headstrong actually is as the two battle. Headstrong combines with his fellow Predacons to form Predaking. Weaknesses: In addition to his knack for talking himself into foolish, dangerous predicaments, Headstrong often suffers from impaired mobility due to bearing problems within his joints. He also has very poor eyesight.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Highbrow.jpgHIGHBROW ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT SUB-GROUP: HEADMASTER HUMAN COMPONENT: GORT FUNCTION: ELECTRONIC WARFARE FIRST APPEARANCE: HEADMASTERS # 1 "War is the playground of the ignorant." Profile: Highbrow considers warfare a barbaric solution to problems, worthy of only the most primitive sentient creatures. He believes civilized folk should talk about their differences, a talent for which he seemingly has an endless capacity. Hardhead claims that Highbrow's voice box burns enough fuel by itself to power all the Nebulan Autobots for a year. Although that is doubtful, Highbrow does talk a lot and uses a lot of words that nobody understands. Even Chromedome often finds himself fruitlessly searching through his extensive vocabulary. Highbrow considers himself intellectually superior to the Nebulans and other Autobots. They think he's a self-righteous snob. Highbrow's biggest disappointment in life is that circumstance has forced him to lower himself to participate in the very activity he most loathes - fighting. Gort, Highbrow's Nebulan partner, is quite a contrast. He's a cheerful young man with never an unkind word for anyone. Spurred by concern for protecting his planet, he overcame his working-class origins as a stable boy for an exclusive Nebulan country club that catered to the aristocracy to join the elite ranks of the Headmasters. He is much admired by his comrades for his earnestness, common sense and courage - except for Highbrow, who finds it a humiliating, humbling experience to be binary-bonded to such a commoner. Young women all over Nebulos are attracted to the boyishly handsome hero, but Gort remains steadfastly faithful to his long-time girlfriend, Marita. Gort is the All-American boy of the Nebulan Autobot Headmasters. Abilities: In helicopter mode, Highbrow has twin three-bladed rotors that enable him to lift up to 22,000 pounds of cargo, and, with the help of two small vectored-thrust turbofan engines, reach a maximum speed of 1200 mph. More accurately, Highbrow's designation is a jet helicopter. He's packed with equipment designed to detect, monitor and record enemy communications; target-indicating radar whose signals can be relayed to ground stations; magnetic, infrared and audio sensors for detecting enemy robots and vehicles; and a variety of anti-detection systems to protect himself. His range is 800 miles. In robot mode, Highbrow uses two acid rainmaker rifles, which shoot streams of highly corrosive acid. Weaknesses: Sometimes the thrust of Highbrow's jet engines overpower his rotors, sending him spinning out of control when in helicopter mode. Also, Highbrow's deep resentment of being controlled by Gort makes him less than cooperative at times.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Huffer.jpgHUFFER ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT FUNCTION: CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 1 "Molecular structure is the key to success." Profile: Bumblebee says Huffer looks at the world "through sludge-colored windshields." Huffer is dour. He says very little and when he does speak, it's usually to grumble. Huffer's pessimism extends even to his job specialty. He'll grumble that it can't be done and then build the most complex mechanized fortress imaginable. Sometimes it seems he can whip up a suspension bridge out of bobby pins and glue. Huffer isn't too sociable, but in any sort of difficulty he is absolutely reliable. Optimus Prime knows that Huffer secretly misses Cybertron and longs to return there. Abilities: A complex system of sensors in his arms allows Huffer to test various materials, some of which he uses in construction, for various properties such as tensile strength, heat resistance, elasticity, etc. Although lacking weapons, he is extremely strong and can lift 40,000 pounds. His mathematical and geometrical abilities exceed those of all the other Autobots and help him in his construction designs. Weaknesses: Huffer is prone to severe bouts of depression as a result of his homesickness. At these times he is often inconsolable and of little value to the other Autobots.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Hoist.jpgHOIST ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT FUNCTION: MAINTENANCE FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 14 "You have to be rolling before you can be fighting." Profile: Everybody must submit to his maintenance schedule, even Optimus Prime, and no excuse is ever good enough for Hoist. And he has a good reason for being so strict: even though his job usually keeps him away from the front lines, he knows how important it is that all the Autobot warriors are operating at peak efficiency when they engage in battle. He genuinely enjoys his job, as indicated by the jovial manner in which he performs it. And he's good at his job, too; whether the problem is a full engine overhaul or the smallest leaky gasket, his comrades are confident that Hoist will find it. Abilities: As a tow truck, Hoist can haul up to 400,000 pounds. In robot mode, he is one of the strongest of the Autobots. From his wrist sockets, he can launch heat-seeking missiles up to 4.5 miles. The full spectrum multi-sensor module he wears behind his head can determine an object's composition, density, tensile strength, energy properties and often even its function with a mere sweep of its triple beams. The beams have an operating range of 1200 yards, making Hoist an effective and valued scout at times. Weaknesses: Hoist's dedication to his job sometimes blinds him to the precedence that armed conflict often takes over it. He lacks speed in vehicular mode, and has a high fuel consumption rate.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Hook.jpgHOOK ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON SUB-GROUP: CONSTRUCTICON FUNCTION: SURGICAL ENGINEER FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 10 "Strive for perfection even if others must suffer." Profile: With the care and precision of a fine jeweler, Hook performs his job with a skill unparallelled among all the Transformers. It doesn't matter whether he's reconnecting a damaged microchip or setting a two ton girder into place - in each case perfection is his final goal. Perhaps because he is a perfectionist he has a snobbish, supercilious attitude toward his fellow Constructicons, since he considers them generally crude and dim-witted. Although Hook may not win any popularity contests, there's no denying his superior abilities and the important role they have in the Decepticons' evil schemes. Abilities: In vehicular mode, Hook can use his crane to lift objects weighing up to 20 tons. In positioning these objects, his error tolerance is less than .00001%. In robot mode he shows equal precision repairing his comrades as the Decepticon surgeon. He carries a rocket launcher in vehicular mode and a laser pistol in robot mode. He serves as the shoulders and head module that, when combined with his fellow Constructicons, forms the giant robot known as Devastator. Weaknesses: The extreme care Hook takes in performing his job often slows down his work to the point of antagonizing his fellow Decepticons and endangering whatever operation they are involved in. Overuse of his crane can result in metal stress fractures.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Horri_Bull.jpgHORRI-BULL ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON SUB-GROUP: HEADMASTER HUMAN COMPONENT: KREB FUNCTION: GROUND TROOPER FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 46 "Smash all that stands and trample the rest." Profile: If ever there were a Decepticon worth avoiding, Horri-Bull is it. It's not just that he's a bad tempered bully with a penchant for smashing through anything (or anyone) in his path and then coming back and grinding them into dust. No, why so many Transformers (be they Autobot or Decepticon) tend to go out of their way to avoid Horri-Bull, is that when it comes to personal hygiene, Horri-Bull leaves a lot to be desired. Even he can't remember the last time he had a steam bath, and his body is coated with several years worth of grime and grease. To make matters worse, a glitch in his internal fuel lines means that he continually regurgitates used oil as a black sludge that then drips (or worse, sprays) from his mouth as he talks. This, combined with the fact that he has a habit of belching noxious clouds of black smoke from his nose goes some way to explaining why he is such a solitary character. Many wonder why Horri-Bull doesn't at least wash, or have his fuel lines repaired. The fact is, he likes being an odious slob, feeling it somehow sets him apart from the run-of-the-mill Decepticon warrior. He's ideally paired with Nebulan partner, Kreb, a former talk-show host with obnoxious manners. If it's disgusting, Kreb will revel in it. His blatant rudeness rounds off the equation, making Horri-Bull a thoroughly unpleasant specimen. Abilities: Though somewhat limited in the brain department, Horri-Bull is both very strong and very tough (though it's rumored that a good percentage of his armor plating is actually dirt). He's a lumbering engine of destruction, wielding (in robot mode) a concussion blaster with an effective range of over twelve miles. In bull mode, he's even more densely armored, and uses a tail flame thrower to incinerate his enemies. If Horri-Bull wishes to hide himself from enemy view (and it's not an option he often feels constrained to use), he can emit an effective - if odorous - smokescreen by exhaling dense clouds of black smoke. He's by no means fast, but he always gets the job done! Weaknesses: Horri-Bull has few actual weaknesses, but does tend to find himself isolated from back-up in battles. It's also said that if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction, Horri-Bull is something of a liability, as his foes can smell him a mile off!

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Hosehead.jpgHOSEHEAD ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT SUB-GROUP: HEADMASTER HUMAN COMPONENT: LUG FUNCTION: EMERGENCY RESCUE FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 62 "If at first you don't succeed, keep trying." Profile: Hosehead always has the desire, but often lacks the ability. Ready, willing and unable could be his motto. Although he has proven himself to be courageous and skillful in the most desperate of situations, his eagerness to be helpful at all times, even times when his help isn't needed, has often gotten him into trouble. He has rescued people after they already have been rescued. He once doused a building with flame retardant chemicals after the fire that had engulfed it had already been extinguished. He is famous for doing the right thing at the wrong time. Some suspect that this chronic problem is a result of crossed cerebral circuits. But those who know him best realize that his bumbling behavior stems from insecurities within him born of his once being a low-level microchip counter in a transistor factory on Cybertron. He joined the Autobots because he believed that he could do more with his life. He's been trying - many would say over-trying - to prove his value to them ever since. Hosehead is binary-bonded to Lug, a former all-star athlete on the planet Nebulos. Lug's experience of performing under the high pressure spotlight of competition has proven to be a great benefit to the typically insecure Hosehead. Since Lug was bio-engineered so that he could transform and assume the role of his Autobot partner's head, Hosehead has demonstrated a marked improvement in the manner that he carries out his emergency rescue function. Abilities: Hosehead transforms to a hi-tech fire truck. In truck mode he is equipped with a hydraulic ladder, high pressure water hose, flame retardant chemical foam, infra-red sensors for finding hidden sources of heat (such as fires within walls and living beings) and emergency medical and repair equipment. He has a maximum speed of 240 miles per hour and a range of 600 miles. He is armed with two short-range laser pistols and an accelerator rifle. The rifle works by accelerating any target it hits so that the target moves at uncontrollable speeds, at least until it crashes into something. The rifle has a range of six miles. Weaknesses: Given the frequency that he engages in unnecessary tasks, Hosehead often runs low on fuel.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Hot_Rod1.jpgHOT ROD ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT FUNCTION: CAVALIER FIRST APPEARANCE: THE TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE # 1 "My actions speak louder than words." Profile: Hot Rod is the all-American-boy Autobot. Not too sweet, not too sharp, not too snotty... not a goodie-goodie, but basically a typical adolescent who has dreams of doing great stuff and being as heroic and important as Optimus Prime and other famous and revered top Autobots. He tends to follow rules until they bug him - and he sometimes learns, to his regret, that disobeying wasn't exactly smart. And he often acts without thinking in an effort to do the right thing - and this gets him and sometimes his friends in trouble. But he's not afraid when trouble does arrive and is a brave and honorable fighter and friend. He is especially close to Kup, the grizzled old mentor of an Autobot, although he sometimes resents hearing "wisdom." And he likes Daniel, the Earth kid, a lot. (In a way, Hot Rod is big brother to Daniel - a role model - and Hot Rod knows it and takes the responsibility seriously.) In robot or automotive mode, Hot Rod is sometimes hot-headed, but always a well-meaning, admirable "lad" and popular with all who know him. Abilities: He carries two photon lasers that temporarily electromagnetize an enemy robot's microcircuits. Speed: 120 mph. Range: 4 miles. Weaknesses: Hot Rod's impulsive actions often get him into trouble.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Hot_Spot.jpgHOT SPOT ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT SUB-GROUP: PROTECTOBOT FUNCTION: PROTECTOBOT LEADER FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 24 "The hotter things get, the better I like it." Profile: Hot Spot likes to be where the action is. Whether he's trying to put out a fire or win a war, as long as he's surrounded by a swirl of movement he's happy. He fights with a fluid instinctiveness that seemingly overrides any carefully measured analysis within his logic circuitry. His leadership is charismatic and inspiring; the other Protectobots can't help but perform beyond their abilities when in his company. However, sometimes they have difficulty keeping up with his non-stop pace. His philosophy is to be maximally operational every moment of his life. Or, as he likes to phrase it, "There are always junkyards for those who rust!" Abilities: In his fire truck mode, Hot Spot can travel at 90 mph and has a range of 600 miles. His hose line can shoot streams of high-pressure water (and other non-corrosive fluids, such as oil and alcohol) an effective distance of 1200 feet. In robot mode, he possesses incredible strength: he can press 60,000 pounds. He uses a fireball cannon, which can shoot bursts of 2000 degrees Fahrenheit blue flame a distance of 1.5 miles. A special vanadium-steel alloy shields him from temperatures of up to 5000 degrees Fahrenheit. He combines with his fellow Protectobots to form the giant robot known as Defensor. Weaknesses: Hot Spot's ladder sometimes jams, locking into position when extended. His fireball cannon often backfires, releasing large amounts of the flammable liquid that powers it. Hot Spot himself is invulnerable to the liquid's effects, but the liquid can cause considerable fire-damage to anything around him.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Hound.jpgPrinter-friendly version HOUND ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT FUNCTION: SCOUT FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 1 "Observe everything, remember even more." Profile: Hound would just as soon be sniffing around the Grand Canyon or Big Sur as he would a secret Decepticon base. Perhaps more than any other Autobot, Hound takes pleasure in being on Earth. Unlike his home planet, which is entirely composed of metal and machinery, he finds the natural wonders of Earth endlessly fascinating, and uses his topographical skills to store every sight he sees within his memory circuits. Hound's bravery, fearlessness, and loyalty are unwavering, like any good advance scout. But his secret desire is to be human. Abilities: While in his jeep mode, Hound uses his turret gun to sweep over the landscape from horizon to horizon, like a radar scope, and, with the help of internal 3-dimensional simulation circuitry, stores this information as a topographical map. Error distortion is no more than one inch per 150 feet distance from point of data collection. In robot mode, Hound's turret gun becomes an infrared radiation collector. It can detect heat differentials as small as .02 degrees Centigrade, and he uses this ability in tracking machines as well as humans. Hound's shoulder-mounted hologram gun can project 3-dimensional grid laser light images of terrain maps stored in his memory. He sometimes also can use it to cast simple illusions. Weaknesses: Hound's infrared tracking ability can be countered by thermal interference. High frequency electromagnetic waves can distort or completely destroy his map-making ability. Sophisticated manipulation of such waves can even result in the recording of false images within his memory circuits.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Inferno.jpgINFERNO ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT FUNCTION: SEARCH & RESCUE FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 67 "Where there's smoke, there's me." Profile: "The hotter things get, the better I like it!" When Inferno says this, he's not merely referring to fires. His love for combat increases with its intensity as well, a fact appreciated by both friend and foe alike. Although his primary role is search and rescue, performing it usually takes him into the heat of battle where he is often distracted into participating. If Optimus Prime has any complaint about Inferno, it's that he doesn't stick to his assigned task. But that's because he wants to do too much, not too little, and Optimus can't really complain about that. Abilities: In vehicular mode, Inferno has all the capabilities of a normal Earth fire truck. In robot mode, Inferno's strength is among the greatest of the Autobots. His ceramic-plated armored skin makes him resistant to temperatures of up to 8000 C. His extinguisher rifle not only shoots a stream of flame-suppressing foam, but can also stop beams of various types of electromagnetic radiation with its own energy-damping beam. By detaching his hands, he can use his forearms to launch short-range surface-to-air missiles. Weaknesses: Inferno isn't too good at following orders, which can lead to problems in performing his job as well as on the battlefield. His particular configuration makes him one of the least mobile of the Autobots when he's in robot mode.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Ironhide1.jpgIRONHIDE ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT FUNCTION: SECURITY FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 1 "High tech circuitry is no replacement for guts." Profile: "Go chew on a microchip," is Ironhide's calling card. Never the sort who likes to be told what to do, he prefers action to words. He refers to what he considers excessive talking as "leaking lubricant." He's the oldest Autobot, probably the toughest, most battle-tested and certainly the orneriest. Due to his defensive capabilities, he is usually in charge of safekeeping anything or anyone of importance, and sort of acts as Commander Optimus Prime's personal bodyguard. His gruff exterior hides his kind inner soul; his concern for the protection of life, whether mechanical or biochemical, extends to the lowliest gasketroid or smallest sparrow. Abilities: Ironhide's skin is made of a trithyllium-steel alloy impregnated with irradiated carbon fibers, giving him immunity to most forms of artillery and electromagnetic attacks. He is the most nearly invulnerable of the Autobots. His main weapon is what he playfully calls his "water gun." It can shoot a stream of any number of liquids up to 1,000 feet. His choices include supercooled liquid nitrogen, superheated liquid lead, and a petro-chemical fluid that ignites upon contact. He also has sonar, radar, and a radiowave detector. Weaknesses: Ironhide is the slowest Autobot. Due to his advanced years, he breaks down the most. His presence breeds dissension among some of the younger, less compassionate Autobots who consider him an antiquated old heap whose contributions do not outweigh his liabilities. Optimus Prime does not share their view.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Jazz.jpgJAZZ ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT FUNCTION: SPECIAL OPERATIONS, SABOTEUR FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 1 "Do it with style or don't bother doing it." Profile: Jazz would be cruising down Bourbon Street in New Orleans or be double-parked outside a cellar club in Greenwich Village soaking up the local sounds if he weren't in the middle of a war. He's a confirmed Earthen culture junkie - he can talk fluently about ballet or break-dancing (although he prefers the latter), and he's always on the lookout for more stuff to turn on to. His knowledge of Earthen ways and his easy adaptability to Earthen environments make him the indispensable right-hand man of his commander, Optimus Prime. He's often given the most dangerous assignments, and, with characteristic coolness, usually pulls them off using something out of his seemingly bottomless bag of tricks. He'd rather dazzle you with style than accomplish a mission the easy way. Abilities: In robot mode, Jazz can use his solar-powered photon rifle with deadly accuracy up to a distance of .9 miles from target, and he can shoot it from virtually any physical position he may be in with equal effectiveness. He can also use a combination of his overhead flame-thrower (maximum range of 250 feet), full-spectrum front grill beacon and 180 dB stereo speakers to create a spectacular, disorienting light and sound show. He has been known to glide for more than 3000 feet using his rear-mounted ailerons. His biggest asset is the versatility and cleverness he possesses in using the resources at his disposal. Weaknesses: Although Jazz's firepower and strength are weak relatives to that of some of the other Autobots, he more than compensates with his daring and skill. He's prone to be distracted from his primary assignment by Earthen behavior patterns that he finds interesting. This sometimes leads to disastrous consequences.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Jetfire.jpgJETFIRE ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT FUNCTION: AIR GUARDIAN FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 11 "Among the mysteries of science lies the key to victory." Profile: With a reckless daring that comes from being the swiftest of all the Autobots, Jetfire is the most eager of his comrades to plunge into battle. But his bravado is tempered by one overriding thought: he sincerely believes that victory over the Decepticons can only come through advancements in Autobot technology. As the first of a new generation of Autobots such a credo is perhaps only natural. Also, because he was created on Earth, Jetfire is one of the few Autobots who has no memory of his home planet. His allegiance to his cause is only matched by his devotion to scientific research. Abilities: In jet-fighter mode, Jetfire's unique swing-wing design allows him to take off like a normal jet and then, pulling his wings back, reach speeds of up to Mach 4.2. Adding twin supersonic combustion ramjet (i.e. scramjet) engine modules along with twin liquid hydrogen fuel tanks allows Jetfire to achieve orbital velocities, or to even escape Earth's gravity altogether. With this capability, he can launch like a missile, shoot up above the atmosphere, and, at a speed of Mach 29, dive down like a blazing meteor (hence his name) half a world away only 30 minutes later. In robot and jet mode, he is equipped with four independently targetable particle beam cannons around his head and eight heat-seeking armor-piercing missiles. Weaknesses: Jetfire's range is limited by his fuel consumption; any transatmospheric trip requires his refueling when he lands. Since he is newly constructed by the Ark, he is prone to numerous mechanical failures as the bugs in his system are worked out. Anything from a malfunctioning radio to an engine stall in deep space has been known to happen.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Joyride.jpgJOYRIDE ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT SUB-GROUP: POWERMASTER HUMAN COMPONENT: HOTWIRE FUNCTION: WARRIOR FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 41 (Joyride), TRANSFORMERS # 42 (Hotwire) "Enjoy each moment like it's your last." Profile: Although a fierce warrior and a skilled technician, Joyride is best known for his high-speed highway antics. He drives too fast and too recklessly to be allowed on the same road with most other vehicles. He only bothers to pay attention to the traffic around him on those occasions when he accidentally plows into some of it. His thrill-seeking isn't limited to racing alone. The only reason he joined the Autobots was for fun: He gets a kick out of war. He can imagine nothing more enjoyable than fighting a troop of fuelthirsty Decepticons, which is an attitude that grates on some of his more serious-minded comrades-in-arms. He's as quick to jump to conclusions as he is to floor his accelerator. This impulsive behavior often results in Joyride's pursuit of various ill-considered courses of action. Often, only the interference of some of his more thoughtful fellow Autobots prevents him from falling victim to a disaster of his own creation. Hotwire was classified as a "chronic unlicensed private vehicle procurer" on his home planet of Nebulos. On Earth he would be called a car thief. After Hotwire was caught by the authorities once too often, the brilliant Nebulan scientist Hi Q gave him a chance to straighten his life out by working at the Hi Q Industrial Research Complex. Recognizing Hotwire's natural talent as a mechanic, Hi Q employed him as his top systems troubleshooter, a job in which Hotwire checked out and de-bugged all of the complex's newest mechanical creations. Hotwire excelled in this role, but his career ended when he chose to undergo the Powermaster Process. He was biomechanically engineered to have the ability to transform and function as Joyride's engine. This binary bonding has made each of the duo dependent on the other for his survival. Abilities: In vehicle mode Joyride can reach a maximum speed of 525 miles per hour and has a range of 800 miles. His titanium-belted tires secrete an adhesive that gives him pinpoint maneuverability on virtually any road surface. In both robot and vehicle modes he is equipped with a photon blaster, which has the ability to lock the molecular structure of any metallic target its beam touches, resulting in the freezing of any moving mechanism it hits. Weaknesses: Joyride is a frequent victim of his own impulsiveness. He gets into numerous debilitating accidents and battles as a result of his penchant for ill-considered decisions.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Kickback1.jpgKICKBACK ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON SUB-GROUP: INSECTICON FUNCTION: ESPIONAGE FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 17 "Friend is another word for fool." Profile: Kickback is as charming a guy as you'll ever meet - but it is a charm rooted in an uncommonly cruel cleverness. The singular purpose of any friendship that this Insecticon begins is to dig up embarrassing facts about the other robot or person so that Kickback can influence his "friend" into doing his bidding. Humans are particularly susceptible to his seductive talents, but even Autobots have been known to succumb. The only thing Kickback enjoys more than recruiting these unwilling double agents is destroying them after he's exhausted their usefulness. Abilities: In his insect mode, Kickback can use his powerful leg modules to propel him up to heights of 40 feet and over distances of a tenth of a mile. Although small in this form, a single kick of his can punch a hole in a " steel plate. In robot form he can use his wings to fly at speeds up to 30 mph for distances up to 100 miles. He carries a sub-machine gun that can shoot up to 300 rounds per minute of armor-piercing titanium-coated bullets. Weaknesses: Kickback's lack of weaponry makes him extremely vulnerable in insect mode. The nature of his leaping and flying abilities hampers his mobility in moderate winds.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Kup1.jpgKUP ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT FUNCTION: WARRIOR FIRST APPEARANCE: THE TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE # 1 "The past is the greatest teacher." Profile: Kup, as in Pickup Truck, is an old warhorse. A grizzled Autobot veteran with ten thousand tall tales from his one thousand adventures and a motto or word of advice for any situation. He is as brave as they come and as loyal, and sometimes as crotchety as a wet hen - especially when Hot Rod's adolescent thoughtlessness propels them into dangerous areas. Kup loves the Dinobots because they love hearing his tales of glory. When he transforms, Kup's vehicular mode is somewhat squarish and "old-fashioned" compared to some of the sleeker, "later model" Autobots, but he has no complaint about that. He sees himself as a seasoned campaigner with much knowledge to impart and he imparts it whether or not anyone has asked for it. He is sort of the Falstaff to Hot Rod's Prince Hal and he likes the role. Abilities: In robot mode, he carries an old-style musket laser that shoots bursts of metal-corrosive hydrochloric acid. Range: 5 miles. Speed: 100 mph

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Landfill.jpgALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT SUB-GROUP: TARGETMASTER HUMAN COMPONENTS: SILENCER AND FLINTLOCK FUNCTION: MATERIALS TRANSPORT FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 60 "Adventure is found in unlikely places." Profile: Landfill can't understand why the other Autobots steer clear of him. He's generally a friendly, cheerful, hard-working, reliable fellow - what is the problem, he wonders? Unfortunately for Landfill, he needs to look no further than his rearview mirror for the answer. One of the unpleasant side effects of his job is the awful smell. And Landfill does little to minimize it. He leaves a trail of rotting refuse wherever he goes. He's usually caked in muck and filth. He's a veritable rolling garbage dump! Neither gentle hints from friends nor direct orders from superiors can persuade him to improve his personal hygiene. However, he earns the Autobots' appreciation for his willingness to undertake some of the most difficult and disgusting transport tasks. He'll haul a load of spare parts or toxic waste through a hail of enemy fire with equal enthusiasm, proving to his fellow Autobots that even steel-plated slobs have their value. Landfill is teamed with the Nebulans Silencer and Flintlock. Silencer chose to undergo the bio-engineering procedure needed to become an Autobot Targetmaster after witnessing the destruction of his family's hydroponic farm by the Scorponok-led Decepticons who invaded Nebulos. A quiet man who once abhored the use of force for any reason, he has become one of the best warriors among the Autobots' Nebulan allies. Flintlock is a young man who was always eager for action. In fact, within the peaceful constraints of traditional Nebulan society, he was often too eager - he constantly ran afoul of Nebulan authorities for behavior they cited as "anti-social, anti-governmental and rude." Once the Autobots landed on Nebulos and sought Nebulan volunteers to help them thwart the Decepticon threat, Flintlock found a positive outlet for his aggression. Now he is considered one of the toughest, bravest, and surprisingly, most disciplined soldiers among the Autobots. Abilities: Landfill can transform into a dump truck. He can haul up to 10 tons of solid material in this mode. His maximum speed is 70 mph and his range is 350 miles. Silencer has been bio-engineered to convert to a noiseless, recoilless, high-powered proton rifle. He is accurate up to six miles in this mode. Flintlock has been bio-engineered to convert to a stress pistol. In this mode he can shoot a beam of torsional energy that introduces counter-rotational forces within any metal object it hits. These forces induce metal fatigue and eventually metal failure, causing the target to fracture. An infra-red targeting sight allows Flintlock to home in on warm metal objects, such as enemy Decepticons with their engines running. Landfill can use Silencer and Flintlock in his robot or dump truck mode. The two Nebulans can combine to form one weapon that retains the offensive capabilities of both its components. Weaknesses: Landfill's primary liability is completely controllable. He leaves so obvious a trail of trash and emits such a powerful odor that even the dumbest Decepticon tracker would have no difficulty finding him.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Landmine.jpgLANDMINE ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT SUB-GROUP: PRETENDER FUNCTION: ASTEROID MINER FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 40 "The greatest treasures are found in the darkest places!" Profile: Landmine likes to see himself as a sort of robotic Indiana Jones (he's seen all the films several times!), braving all manner of dangers to uncover minerals or relics. His fellow Autobots just see him as a hothead, albeit a hard-working one. The trouble is, Landmine sometimes sees his job as a bit on the boring and unglamorous side. He's very good at what he does but yearns for something more. Landmine loves adventure stories, be they literary, celluloid, or video, and wants very much to live out his fantasies. That he's an Autobot warrior, waging an epic war against the evil Decepticons (an adventure by anyone's standards), doesn't seem to be enough. He fears others think he's as old and dusty as some of the artifacts he unearths. Nevertheless, once he's given a job to do, all Landmine's concerned with is getting it done right! Optimus Prime appreciates such dependability and wishes he could convince Landmine that he fulfills an important and necessary role in the Autobot war effort. The minerals he brings back are used as alternative power sources, fueling machinery, weapons... and Transformers. Still, thinks Landmine, it would be nice to rescue the odd maiden and battle the odd dragon! Abilities: Because of the hostile environments Landmine often has to work in, exposed to cosmic gales, meteorite rain and the like, his shell is constructed of a high-density Cybertronic alloy, resistant to all but the most severe conditions. The suit has full life-support systems to assist motor functions in high gravity. Because of its construction, the shell is impervious to most armaments. Outside his shell, Landmine transforms into an all-terrain exploration vehicle, his mining activities facilitated by electromagnetic, sonic-thermal, chemical, and radiation scanners. He is armed with a laser saber and an astro-blaster that shoots bursts of incendiary explosives. Weaknesses: Landmine tends to rely too heavily on his outer Pretender shell, becoming almost reluctant to leave the safety of it. In battle, Landmine often over-commits himself, anxious to prove to his fellow Autobots he's just as rough, tough and interesting as any of them.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Laserbeak.jpgLASERBEAK ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON FUNCTION: INTERROGATION FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 1 "The only point I like in Autobots: melting point." Profile: Laserbeak takes a sadistic pleasure in hunting his prey. He prefers to play with them and slowly cripple them before moving in for the kill. On Cybertron, his appearance on the battlefront would usually mean the battle was over and the Decepticons had won. Then it would be his turn to pick off the straggling survivors. However, given a situation where the odds are against him, he is clearly not very brave. He'll run for safety. And he makes no attempt to hide this fear. If Decepticon Leader Megatron didn't have a special appreciation for Laserbeak's lethal style, he might have gotten rid of Laserbeak a long time ago. Abilities: In robot mode, Laserbeak can fly at speeds of up to 250 mph with a range of 1500 miles. He has two independently targetable laser cannons that can fly on their own. Laserbeak emits a laser beam that is able to pierce a 2-inch thick plate steel at a distance of 30 miles. Laserbeak uses these beams like a surgeon uses his scalpels - with extreme precision. He employs this talent to persuade captives to reveal secret information - before he disposes of them. Weaknesses: The Autobots are well aware of Laserbeak's lack of bravery and take advantage of that flaw to thwart his machinations whenever they can. Also, Laserbeak has a serious dependency on ruby crystals, which empower his lasers. When his supply runs out, he's been known to become so terrified of his vulnerability that his systems completely shut down and he becomes immobile.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Lightspeed1.jpgwww.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Lightspeed2.jpgLIGHTSPEED ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT SUB-GROUP: TECHNOBOT FUNCTION: DATA PROCESSOR FIRST APPEARANCE: HEADMASTERS # 3 "Space travel is the only flight to freedom." Profile: Widely admired for his intelligence, dashing good looks and coolheadedness, Lightspeed is thought to be the model Autobot soldier. But Lightspeed thinks otherwise... for beneath that shiny chrome and steel exterior beats the fuel pump of a tormented soul. Although he appreciates the vital function he fulfills in his ground vehicle mode - processing data and shuttling it to various Autobot bases - he longs to take leave of the surface world and fly. His secret ambition is to explore the vast gulfs of space and uncover the mysteries of the universe. But before he can ask Autobot Command to use its scarce resources to reconstruct him into an interstellar spacecraft, Lightspeed realizes that the Autobots must first win their war against the Decepticons. And until that day, Lightspeed will continue to fight... and to dream. Abilities: In vehicle mode, Lightspeed can accelerate from 0 to 500 mph in 8 seconds, with an average cruising speed of 300 mph. His range is 2,500 miles. He carries two side-mounted, independently targetable plasma blasters. In robot mode, he wields a proton rifle with a magnetic sight that locks on to iron-bearing targets, such as most enemy Decepticons. He combines with his fellow Technobots to form the super-robot Computron. Weaknesses: Lightspeed has an allergic reaction to energon, the primary fuel source of all Transformers, and to most other fuels as well, but to a lesser degree. He must always take a special lead sulfide additive when refueling. Otherwise, his engine experiences severe knocking and he'll break out in a rust rash.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Long_Haul.jpgLONG HAUL ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON SUB-GROUP: CONSTRUCTICON FUNCTION: TRANSPORT FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 10 "A battle front is only as good as its supply line." Profile: Long Haul isn't too thrilled with his unglamorous role in the Decepticon cause, but he understands its importance. Along with his fellow Constructicons, his function is to help build the massive energy-recovery installations that fuel the Decepticon onslaught. But he'd much prefer the excitement and glory that come with being a full-time warrior. And he knows better than to tell anyone of his secret desire - Megatron allows no dissent among the Decepticons ranks. Abilities: In vehicular mode, Long Haul can carry up to 90 tons for 1200 miles. He can also add on a dual heat-seeking missile launcher. In robot mode he carries a laser pistol. When combined with his fellow Constructicons, he serves as the torso module in the giant robot known as Devastator. Weaknesses: Long Haul is slow and sometimes his unhappiness reduces his effectiveness. He's sensitive to teasing about the mundane nature of his job and can often be goaded into fights in which he may be clearly overmatched.

🌐 The Global Network 🌐www.ntfa.net/universe/pictures/Megatron1.jpgMEGATRON ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON FUNCTION: DECEPTICON LEADER FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 1 "Everything is fodder." Profile: Love, compassion, mercy are words that have no meaning for Megatron. He has risen to the leadership of the Decepticons by a combination of brute strength, military cunning, ruthlessness, and terror. On Cybertron he was commanding general in charge of all military operations against the Autobots, who referred to him as "The Slag-Maker." It was a title of fear. A title of respect. A title Megatron relished. His banishment to Earth has only made him more bitter and more evil-minded, if that is possible. He aches to return to Cybertron and complete his mission of eradicating the Autobots. But while on Earth he is dedicated to eliminating those Autobots marooned here with him - and his plans go far beyond that. He realizes the Earth is one huge stockpile of metal and fuel resources and means to possess it all, with the aid of his fellow Decepticons. But his plans go even further, plans so grandiose even his fellow Decepticons are unaware: Megatron intends to enslave the entire human race. He allows no exceptions to his motto. Abilities: Megatron is incredibly powerful and intelligent, the equal of Autobot Leader Optimus Prime. His fusion cannon can convert any small amount of matter into large quantities of explosive nuclear energy. The cannon can fire a blast up to 12 miles and release enough energy to flatten a small town. Megatron can use his internal circuitry to connect the cannon interdimensionally with a black hole, where it can draw on anti-matter as its power source. The blast from this is far greater, but it creates a tremendous strain on Megatron to do this for even one blast. Weaknesses: Megatron has no known weaknesses.
