Here is the eponymous city mentioned in passing throughout Borderlands and is the central mission hub in Borderlands 2.
Contents[show] Background Sanctuary is a city built on top of Dahl's prime mining ship of the same name, sent to Pandora to mine precious minerals from an area now known as the Caustic Caverns. When the Dahl corporation left Pandora after its unsuccessful ventures, they left their prize mining ship behind, still covering up the failed mining site.
In Borderlands, Sanctuary is inaccessible for several reasons. Helena Pierce tells the Vault Hunters that she has cut off access to Sanctuary because of Baron Flynt's presence in The Salt Flats, and that she didn't want innocent people getting killed by his tribe and their "infernal contraption". After Baron Flynt's demise, Crimson Lance forces under Commandant Steele's command fight the bandit inhabitants of the city.

Following the opening of the Vault and the destruction of the Crimson Lance, Sanctuary was soon overrun by a group of bandits known as the Bloodshot gang. Roland later forced them out of the city and claimed Sanctuary as the primary base of operations for the Crimson Raiders, a resistance force comprising of bandits and the remaining Crimson Lance forces. Roland sent out distress signals to the remaining civilian population persuading them to reach Sanctuary before Hyperion killed them. He also ensured the safe arrival of people such as Dr. Zed, Marcus Kincaid and Patricia Tannis. It has since become the last bastion of safety from Handsome Jack and the Hyperion corporation. After yet another attack by Jack, the city was turned airborne and teleported to the Highlands by Lilith. The outer edge of the city is left behind at the mining ship's berth, Sanctuary Hole.
During Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary, Sanctuary was overrun by Colonel Hector and his New Pandora forces. Lilith was able to teleport many of the town's inhabitants away, but in their absence, the town became infested with the botanical overgrowth caused by Hector's infection. Eventually, in order to banish Hector, she was forced to destroy the city.

The town's rooftops are accessible by jumping off the second floor balcony. The entrance is flanked by a guard and both an Ammo Dump and Gun$ machine. The red Dahl weapons chest is accessible at the conclusion of the mission Bearer of Bad News.
There is a welder that plays very distorted audio messages on the ground floor.
Dr. Zed's 24/7 Clinic Sanctuary's medical facility is a small clinic run by Dr. Zed. There are two med vendors here, and Zed himself also buys and sells defensive items, with his inventory being an extension of the med vendor inside the left of the entrance. An Ammo Dump is just outside the door. Inside the Clinic, inside one of the open morgue doors, a QR code is present, that when scanned reveals the message: "Thanks so much for playing our game, now I'm rich with love AND money! !!Nick Wilson!! Moxxi's Moxxi's is a bar on the east side of Sanctuary. Mad Moxxi and Sir Hammerlock can be found here. There are two slot machines beside the entrance that provide prizes such as cash, weapons and Eridium (along with the occasional exploding grenade); the cost to play them varies based on the storyline level. Cumulatively large contributions to Moxxi's tip jar will result in gifts to the Vault Hunter. Also, talking with Moxxi will reveal snippets of backstory. A vault symbol can be found just outside of Moxxi's.
This Just In News Stand A booth carrying ECHOs of "This Just In!" is located in the southwestern corner of the town square, providing the town with Hyperion propaganda news. The recordings are updated after the completion of most story missions.

This affects the price of using slot machines and the level of the loot they drop, the level of items which can be found in vending machines, or handed over by NPCs. It also affects the price of ammunition bought from ammo vending machines, with rockets costing over $32,000 at level 50. Thanks to a formerly-benign occupation and guardianship by Crimson Lance forces, this city was described as a "Lance fiefdom", according to Helena Pierce. After the release of Borderlands, Sanctuary was again mentioned in promotional material specific to the preorder of Borderlands 2. Golden Keys can be used to unlock the Golden Chest in Pierce Station. In Bright Lights, Flying City, the mining ship Sanctuary is detached from its berth, revealing the Caustic Caverns below. When Sanctuary lifts off and is teleported away, Pvt. Jessup is left standing alone outside the city gate which does not lift off with the rest of Sanctuary. Despite this he can be found at Sanctuary when the new location is accessed. (PC) Items/Weapons can be dropped through the floor of Pierce Station if PhysX is set to Medium or High. They are based in the rebel settlement of Sanctuary and answer to Roland and Lilith when Sanctuary needs their assistance.
Contents[show] History After the original Vault Hunters defeated General Knoxx, the Atlas corporation's attempted takeover of Pandora failed. ECHO recorders found in Sanctuary during Borderlands 2 suggest that Atlas cut their losses and left a large number of Crimson Lance soldiers stranded with no supplies or ammunition, leaving them defenseless and ripe for bandit attacks. Roland pledged to give these soldiers a cause worth fighting for if they joined him in the building of a militia against Hyperion, and so the Crimson Raiders were born.
Originally stationed with Roland in New Haven, the Crimson Raiders were forced to relocate to Sanctuary after the Hyperion corporation overran the city. Still under Roland's command, their missions mainly involve disrupting Handsome Jack's Eridium mining and defending Sanctuary from the Bloodshot bandits.
After the emergance of the Children of the Vault, the Crimson Raiders begin looking for recruits to help deal with the new threat.
Members Vault Hunters Roland † (founder; leader) Lilith (leader; M.I.A.) Mordecai Brick Axton Maya † Salvador Zer0 Krieg Gaige Amara FL4K Moze Zane Flynt Others Ava Claptrap Ellie Helena Pierce † Mad Moxxi Patricia Tannis Scooter † Sir Hammerlock Tiny Tina Former members of the Crimson Lance
Pvt. Jessup † Lt. Davis † Cpl. Reiss † Involvement Members of the Crimson Raiders include Roland, the leader, Lilith, the co-leader, Mordecai, a scout, and Patricia Tannis, a researcher. Roland contacts the new Vault Hunters just as he is kidnapped by Bloodshots, and they must find Lilith in order to save him. Handsome Jack constantly refers to the Crimson Raiders and the citizens of Sanctuary as "bandits," and all Hyperion personnel found during the game treat them as such.
After Roland returns to Sanctuary, the Crimson Raiders direct their attention to locating the Vault Key before Handsome Jack. After the Vault Hunters dispatch Wilhelm, it is revealed that Jack manipulated them and the Raiders into going after the Vault Key directly, with the help of Angel, who orchestrated the hunt for the vault during the events of Borderlands. Sanctuary is forced into the air to escape mortar fire after Angel lowers its shields, whereupon Lilith phase shifts the airborne city to safety.
Due to the lack of other options, Roland, Lilith and Mordecai accept the help of Angel in their quest to find the Vault Key inside a Hyperion bunker. Roland asks the Vault Hunters to gain the aid of the Slab King, who was expelled from the Raiders three years prior. The Vault Hunters, the Crimson Raiders, and the Slabs successfully break their way into Angel's bunker, and kill her. In a fit of rage, Handsome Jack shoots Roland in the back, killing him, then kidnaps Lilith.
After the death of Roland, many Raiders throughout the city of Sanctuary express disbelief towards his demise, dismissing it as either Hyperion propaganda or baseless rumors. Mordecai would later go on to inherit leadership of the Raiders temporarily. After The Warrior is defeated and Handsome Jack is killed by the vault hunters, Lilith is rescued and inherits the leadership of the Raiders. The Crimson Raiders' further actions consist of attempting to wipe Hyperion off Pandora for good.
In Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Brick and Mordecai were able to capture Athena, who is interrogated by Lilith for her involvement in helping Handsome Jack rise to power. After Athena finishes her story, Lilith, against the objections raised by Brick and Mordecai, orders the Raiders to execute Athena. However, Athena is saved by The Watcher, who warns them that war is imminent and that they need to recruit as many vault hunters they can find.
In Borderlands 3 The Crimson Raiders are at war with the Children of the Vault to stop their ambition of unleashing devastation by opening every vault in the galaxy to obtained the power of destruction. In response for the destruction of their undoing, Lilith sacrifices herself to save Pandora for stopping the impact of Elpis.

Contents[show] Background Old Haven overview Overview
Old Haven was once a major city in The Rust Commons East which has since been overrun by bandits, causing the residents to flee and create another settlement, called New Haven. According to Patricia Tannis, the bandits were hired by the Lance to scare the residents out. When the bandits accomplished that task, the Lance had no further use for them, swept in and killed all of the bandits, occupying the settlement, along with adding turrets throughout the city. Apparently, the Lance learned how to create signal fires, which the bandits use when calling for help. They later used these fires to lure unsuspecting groups of bandits to their deaths. Helena Pierce believes that Commandant Steele sent the Lance there to turn the area into another Sanctuary.
Borderlands 2 Brick reveals that when the General Knoxx was killed, Atlas abandoned all Crimson Lance units in Pandora. As a result, they either joined Roland's Crimson Raiders or came to Old Haven to catch up with the remaining Lance stationed in Old Haven. Roland and Lilith later went to Old Haven and killed the remaining Lance there.
Tales from the Borderlands In Episode 2: Atlas Mugged, Rhys and Fiona travel to Old Haven to uncover Atlas' Gortys Project. The mining town has been built over the underground facility. In the facility they also found a lot of dead Crimson Lance soldiers that were killed by Athena when she decided to terminate the Project.

The town has a powerful signaling beacon, which is put into use during the mission Hitching A Ride in The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned. Some of the dead bandit bodies have their fingers posed in comical positions near the entry. For example, one bandit near the execution wall at the entrance to the map has his middle finger up. Some of the buildings that can be entered have large numbers of beer cans scattered about. The beer is Clitz brand, which is advertised in New Haven. Borderlands Wiki Borderlands Wiki 7,406 PAGES ADD NEW PAGE BORDERLANDS UNIVERSE BORDERLANDS 3 COMMUNITY EXPLORE DISCUSS in: Gameplay, Borderlands Catch-A-Ride (Borderlands) English EDIT SHARE This article is about vehicle creation terminals in Borderlands and The Secret Armory. For other uses, see Catch-A-Ride. Catch-a-Ride01 Catch-a-Ride
Catch-A-Ride is a vehicle creation system which can provide up to two Outrunners at one time, allowing versatile overland transportation. Catch-A-Ride terminals are scattered around Pandora in areas with well established roads or open, drivable expanses. Catch-A-Ride terminals use digistruct technology to create vehicles.
Contents[show] Overview Scooter will initiate contact early in the story and ask the Vault hunters to investigate and repair the Catch-a-Ride terminal at Fyrestone. Two missions are offered in sequence that must be completed in order for the Catch-A-Ride to function. These are:
Catch-A-Ride Bone Head's Theft After fixing the Catch-A-Ride terminal in Fyrestone, Scooter gives two additional missions in order to open path for Runners spawned by this terminal over the city limits. These are:
The Piss Wash Hurdle Return To Zed Using the Catch-a-Ride First Runner can be spawned at Fyrestone's Catch-A-Ride terminal after completing the mission, Bone Head's Theft. This is done by accessing the Catch-A-Ride, selecting either "Vehicle 1" or "Vehicle 2" and then selecting "Spawn Vehicle". The selection panel will also offer options to toggle between a Machine Gun or a Launcher for the Runner's turret weapon as well as a selection of eight paint schemes.
If a Runner has been left somewhere, they can be instantly accessed from any Catch-A-Ride in the area. Rather than spawning a new Runner, a character can be teleported to an existing one by accessing the Catch-A-Ride, selecting a vehicle and using the "Teleport to Driver Seat" or "Teleport to Gunner Seat" option. Outrunners with no occupants will not be persistent if characters travel to another instance and their vanishing will mean having to spawn a new one for the new area.
Travel between instances normally must be achieved on foot. Once unlocked however, some of the gates from one instance to the next can be triggered by driving up to them in the Outrunner, without the need for the character to exit the vehicle. Typically gates with roads leading directly up to them can be accessed from the vehicle.
The Secret Armory of General Knoxx Catch-A-Ride02 Catch-A-Ride south of T-Bone Junction
The Secret Armory of General Knoxx introduced three new vehicles, the Racer, the Monster and the Lancer. The classic Outrunner is not among the options, although players are at little disadvantage since the three new vehicles each outclass the Outrunner in at least two of the attributes of durability, mobility and firepower.
Most of the Catch-A-Ride stations in this DLC are red models pictured on the right, more consistent with Crimson Lance aesthetics than the Hyperion-yellow models seen in the original Borderlands areas. The Parched Fathoms terminals differ from their counterparts in that they supply three entirely different vehicles, rather than one with two turret options. The Catch-A-Ride interface's armament selector becomes its means of selecting the vehicle type, therefore the turret armament for each of the three new vehicles have no modification options.
The paint schemes of these three vehicles follow the same eight-colour pattern for each vehicle. Even if a new vehicle type is selected to replace an old one, the same colour option will carry over to the new vehicle.
Each vehicle type can only be accessed after completing a certain mission. In order of appearance, they are:
Monster - Greasemonkey Racer - Prison Break: Road Warrior Lancer - OMG APC Quotes "This is where the cars live! Get you one!" "Hey, this is where the cars live! Get you one!" "Hey, don't be shy now! Come on! Catch-A-Ride!" "Hey, listen to Scooter! Don't just stand there thumbs-up-yer-ass an' slack-jawed! Get you some wheels!" "Hey! This is the place to Catch-A-Ride! You can paint it all kinds of pretty colors to boot!" "Scooter says, come get you some wheels, kid! Yeah!" "Hey, Scooter here - my runner may not look like a blushin' bride or anything, but she'll get you there... maybe even alive. Catch-a-Ride!" "Hey, listen to Scooter! When you gotta get across the rough 'n rowdiest places on Pandora, accept no substitute!" "Hey, Scooter says don't walk, drive! My daddy always said wheels were better than heels. Uh, he was paralyzed, though. Anyway, don't walk, drive!" "Hey, this is Scooter saying, four wheels is better than... than uh, zero... wheels! Hey, have fun!" "I'm Scooter, and this is my Catch-a-Ride! Can't really say one way or the other. Vault's real, Vault ain't. Flip a coin, say a prayer. Whatever." "Hey! Name's Scooter! I's named after my sister. Hey, come get you some wheels!" "Hey, listen to Scooter! Don't just stand there thumbs-up-yer-ass an' slack-jawed! Get you some wheels!" "Hey let's get rollin', man!" "Hey, you about ready to get rollin'?" "Let's get rollin'!" "Hey, trick out your ride, now!" "Trick out your ride!" "Let's trick out your ride!" "You gots the wheels, now go git you some!" Notes If a vehicle is left somewhere and a player uses "Spawn Vehicle" to recreate it at their current location, it will actually bring the existing vehicle to the Catch-A-Ride rather than generate a new one. This includes any battle damage the vehicle might be under the effects of. Due to the previous point, in the event both vehicles are in use, the only way to hasten the natural recovery of a vehicle's hit points is through the use of Roland's Cauterize while a teammate is occupying the vehicle. Although the "use" prompt will appear, the Fyrestone Catch-A-Ride is in fact unusable until Bone Head's Theft is completed. Trivia The Catch-A-Ride network is maintained by Scooter. It was announced by Randy Pitchford, Gearbox's CEO on March 28th, 2019 and released on September 13th, 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on the Epic Games Store. The game later released for Google Stadia on December 17th, 2019, and was released on Steam for PC on March 13th, 2020[1] Borderlands 3 is built on Unreal Engine 4. Contents[show] Story Taking place approximately seven years after the events of Borderlands 2 and five years after the events of Tales from the Borderlands, Borderlands 3 begins with four new Vault Hunters - Amara the Siren, FL4K the Beastmaster, Moze the Gunner, and Zane the Operative - joining Lilith's Crimson Raiders as new recruits sent to investigate the Children of the Vault cult and their mysterious leaders, the Calypso twins, Tyreen and Troy, who are believed to be in possession of the long lost Vault Map. Upon reclaiming the Vault Map, The Crimson Raiders and allies board the Sanctuary III spacecraft to journey beyond Pandora to other planets throughout the galaxy to claim the Vaults they hold before the Calypsos can steal their power for themselves. Missions Main article: Borderlands 3 mission flow Character Classes Borderlands 3 has four playable characters: Amara - (Siren) Zane - (Operative) Moze - (Gunner) FL4K - (Beastmaster) New Features Borderlands 3 ALL New Weapon Manufacturer Gimmicks Revealed Borderlands 3 ALL New Weapon Manufacturer Gimmicks Revealed Gameplay Loot-instancing and level scaling modes: Cooperative mode (Cooperation): Each player has their own loot instance (ie. two players can loot the same loot chest and obtain different gear) and character levels are intuitively scaled (weapons inflict a damage percentage which is then applied to the enemy). This enables players to play together without issues like loot thieving or long sessions of leveling help. Competitive mode (Coopetition): The default mode of Borderlands, Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, where everyone in the session shares the same loot and higher leveled characters hold advantage over the lower leveled characters against high-level enemies. Prominent bosses (such as those fought during the storyline) have multiple stages during their encounters. A ping system has been added to highlight locations, weapons, NPCs, enemies, and other objects. Mayhem mode has been added as an alteration to Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode and Overpower Levels. Each rank increases the durability of enemies and adds a variety of modifiers to alter gameplay, with the incentive of increased loot, experience and Eridium gain. Players can acquire loot while watching their favorite streamers by using the new ECHOcast extension on Twitch. A Lost Loot machine, accessed onboard Sanctuary III, provides players with an opportunity to recover high quality items (blue and above) that they did not or could not pick up during missions or whilst exploring. Emotes: forms of expressions from dances to taunts represented through your character. Player interactive environments: Barrels can now be launched by the player by meleeing or sliding into them, thereby priming them for explosion. Pipe Covers can be destroyed, resulting in element sensitive pools appearing (such as flammable oil). Some puzzles require using blown pipes to complete circuits. Cover such as wooden barricades can be chipped away at and destroyed if sufficiently damaged. Bodies of water can be affected by elemental damage, causing a brief area-of-effect at the point of impact. Some puzzles require using shock damage to complete circuits. Lighter lootable objects can be shot or melee'd to release their contents. Gore has been improved, with weapons and melee strikes being capable of blowing off limbs, heads and torsos. Like the first Borderlands, players can shoot off the body parts of enemy carcasses a few seconds after the enemy dies. Gore can be turned off in the settings. A Social tab has been added to access online features such as matchmaking and events, the latter of which can be turned on or off freely during the event period. The Social tab also features mail, which lets players access hunting rewards, DLC items, and send items to friends at any time. Mechanics Improved movement system: Vault Hunters can now mantle up ledges they can't quite reach normally and crouch-slide to quickly get behind cover or get through low openings. Improved Fast Travel: players can fast travel to any Fast Travel station from the map menu without the use of one, and can also fast travel to any player-spawned vehicle on the map. Players will be spawned at the last save point if they quit from the menu and continue the game, removing the need to backtrack from the start of a map. In addition to Vault Hunters being able to revive NPCs, friendly NPCs can revive Vault Hunters. Players in Fight For Your Life can now move while being revived, and move faster when downed. Ground slams have been reintroduced since The Pre-Sequel, which can cause enemies to stagger or ragdoll. They can only be performed at a height. Knockback has been revamped, with singularity effects, ground pounds and shots from strong weapons like shotguns being capable of causing standard enemies to ragdoll momentarily. Action Skills are expanded upon, allowing characters to equip one of three action skills at any given time (with the exception of Zane, who can equip two at once while sacrificing the use of grenades). Action Skill augments (represented by a chevron shaped icon) can be unlocked and chosen for free to increase Action Skill effectiveness, by investing skill points into the associated skill tree. Radiation has been added as an elemental damage type as a replacement/adaptation of the slag element in Borderlands 2. Enemies afflicted with radiation will take damage over time, can damage other enemies and explode upon death. It deals less damage to armor, but slightly more to shields. Cryo returns from The Pre-Sequel as an elemental effect, but with modified abilties. It no longer deals damage over time but causes enemies to take 300% melee damage when frozen. It deals less damage to shields, but slightly more to armor. Explosive damage has been removed as an elemental type. In its place is splash damage, which deals an area-of-effect on hit. This no longer limits splash damage to explosive-based weapons like those from Torgue, and modifies the way splash damage is enhanced through skills. Guardian Rank has been implemented as a replacement for Badass Rank. They provide similar perks to badass rank but with a higher base percent increase, alongside a skill tree that grants access to additional perks and cosmetic rewards. This can be toggled on or off at any time. Luck, an additional stat that increases the chance to find rare loot, has been implemented. This can be affected by artifacts and guardian rank, alongside some unique items. Enemies will taunt after downing a Vault Hunter, giving them an opportunity to retaliate. Melee attacks are very likely to stun enemies momentarily, especially on the first hit. Weapons and Loot There are two new weapon manufacturers: COV (which replaces the bandits from Borderlands 2 and scavs from Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel) and Atlas (returning from the original Borderlands). Alternate-fire modes on many weapons, ranging from under-barrel attachments to dual weapon elements and more. Most are limited to a few manufacturers: Maliwan, Vladof, Dahl, Atlas, and Torgue. Manufacturers without an alternate-fire mode instead feature additional perks, such as front-facing shields while scoped (Hyperion). This is limited to Hyperion, Jakobs, Tediore and COV. Manufacturers now create their own gun parts, causing all guns to have unique parts based on their weapon class and manufacturer. Common gun names are separated by their type of unique barrel (in comparison to Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel, which named their guns based on the manufacturer of the barrel). All weapon classes have 3-4 variants. All weapons have a listed "rating" at the top left of their item card, showing their overall effectiveness when compared to other weapons. While they can be somewhat inaccurate, this allows players to quickly gauge the strength of a weapon at a glance. Weapons of higher grades will feature longer and more noticeable beams of light while on the ground, with those of purple and legendary rarities giving unique chimes to signify an extremely rare drop. E-tech has been replaced by a unique "Eridian-merged" alien barrel, which causes guns to use additional ammo for guaranteed elemental damage and special effects such as a continuous laser, bouncing shots or a chain-lightning elemental ball. Legendary drop rates have been heavily increased. Many Legendary weapons are now world drops, though not all. Artifacts, shields and grenades are no longer limited to a single perk and can spawn with multiple ones, such as both a Nova bonus and Roid bonus for shields. Anointments, additional weapon bonuses that activate based on various restrictions (eg. on action skill end, while sliding, stackable damage on kill), can spawn on any equippable item and will begin spawning after the story mode is complete, or bought from the vending machine near Crazy Earl. For every 100 enemies killed with each manufacturer's weapons (regardless of type), players will now receive an automatically-generated "manufacturer loyalty" mail letter in the social tab, rewarding a free common weapon redeemable by any character on that profile. Cosmetics, Customization and Storage Customization has been enhanced - vehicle skins and character heads and skins can also have their colors altered to further modify appearance, the player character's quarters aboard Sanctuary III can have gear mounted on the wall alongside unlockable decorations, and weapons can have skins applied as well as trinkets to hang off them. Vehicles have been enhanced: Enemy piloted vehicles can be hijacked for use in the field or to be taken to the Catch-A-Ride system to be scanned in to unlock their parts and customization for use on the player's own vehicles. New vehicle customization options: weapon, boosters, armor and wheel types for each vehicle can now be changed to utilize varying features (such as hover wheels that allow for vehicle strafing) and modify armor effectiveness and vehicle speed. Various paint jobs can also be unlocked, which may alter the horn of the vehicle. Eridium is now used to purchase cosmetics from Crazy Earl, and SDUs are purchasable only by cash. Bank and Claptrap's Secret Stash have been combined into a singular shared safe, allowing players to access a large storage with any character and move items easily. At the 2017 GDC, Gearbox Software showed off the first footage of Borderlands 3 in the form of an Unreal Engine 4 tech demo. The game will sport higher definition visuals than all previous entries, due to being the first game natively tailored for eighth generation consoles. New additions include greater dynamic lighting, capable of passing and diluting through fabric, as well as real-time shadows that can also interact with fabric in a similar way. Also added is a revamped outline engine that is capable of fitting smaller outlines around inner details of the game's 3D models, as opposed to the previous games, which only placed outlines on the outer edges of the game's geometry. Lastly, the tech demo also had a confirmed female character who may play a large part in the game, either as a Vault Hunter or as an important NPC. Her face is never shown as she is only seen in silhouette form and from the side, where a large pauldron obscures her face. The developers referred to the character with female pronouns during the presentation and were adamant about keeping her face obscured. No further footage of the game was shown. As of April 2019, we now know that the showcased character was the playable character Moze. At PAX East, 2019, an official teaser trailer for the game, titled "Mask of Mayhem", was released. The trailer features an animated 3D collage of various characters, both new and familiar, made to look like porcelain. The end of the trailer zooms out to reveal the collage is in the shape of a Psycho's mask. What follows is the tagline "Mayhem is coming." with the Borderlands website address underneath. The day after, during Gearbox's presentation, a full reveal trailer for Borderlands 3 was showcased. It showed off new characters, including the new Vault Hunters, returning characters, a villainous duo, several new enemies and several new weapon designs. The game was released on September 18, 2012 in the United States, September 20, 2012 in the Australasia region and September 21, 2012 internationally. Borderlands 2 was built in Unreal Engine 3 and uses PhysX technology. It was announced by Randy Pitchford, Gearbox CEO, that the game sold over 12 millions units by March 2015 on all platforms [1]. Contents[show] Story Set five years after the events of Borderlands, Handsome Jack, the game's main antagonist, has taken over the Hyperion Corporation, declared himself Dictator of Pandora and taken all of the credit for finding The Vault – going so far as to claim responsibility for killing The Destroyer. Jack has also blotted out much of the light on the planet by having a giant orbiting H-shaped base set in front of Pandora's stationary moon, creating a 'big brother' atmosphere throughout the planet. The new group of Vault Hunters in Borderlands 2 are tasked with killing Jack and returning peace to Pandora. Borderlands 2 begins with the protagonists on a train to an unspecified location to begin their search for the vault. The train turns out to be a trap set by Handsome Jack, to kill all who search for the Vault. The Vault Hunters defend themselves long enough to reach a train car filled with explosives and a 'dummy' Handsome Jack look-a-like. The detonation causes the train to crash in the Arctic Wasteland, with our new team strewn across the wreckage. The game picks up with the Vault Hunters waking up to Claptrap digging through the remains. The mysterious Guardian Angel then contacts them and explains that Handsome Jack must be killed, directing players to rescue the four original Vault hunters from Hyperion's clutches to accomplish this. All four of the original Vault Hunters reappear in the sequel as NPCs, taking a pivotal role during the main storyline and offering optional missions that continue their personal story. Bandit brand weapons - Bandits themselves now make many of their own weapons featuring a "jury-rigged" aesthetic with weapons made out of scavenged parts. These weapons sport the largest magazines in the game, but have mediocre stats overall. Bandits make Pistols, SMGs, Assault Rifles, Shotguns and Rocket Launchers, giving them the largest arsenal in the game. Dahl weapons focus on stability, precision, and burst fire with a "tacticool" design aping modern firearms. Most Dahl weapons feature a full auto fire rate without scoping in, and a burst fire mode when aiming down the sights. Dahl no longer produces Shotguns. Hyperion weapons retain their customary high accuracy, with a "sci-fi" styling, featuring glowing elemental effects and bold stripes. Unlike other weapons, the accuracy of Hyperion weapons increases the longer the trigger is pressed, but they start off with low accuracy. Hyperion no longer produces Rocket Launchers. Jakobs weapons retain their tradition of high non-elemental damage (with exception to a few weapons) for high recoil and low magazine sizes, and feature a heavily "wild west" inspired aesthetic. Assault rifles, shotguns and pistols fire as fast as the trigger is pulled, while sniper rifles still require a wait for the round to be chambered. Jakobs now produces Assault Rifles. Maliwan weapons retain their focus on elemental damage, and take on a very sleek and futuristic design, with rounded designs, bright colors and many blinking lights. Maliwan no longer produces Shotguns. Tediore weapons have a different feel, having been described as "Cheap, plastic pieces of crap" and "Wal-Mart guns" by Randy Pitchford. Instead of being reloaded, Tediore weapons are thrown away and explode like grenades; the more ammo left in the clip, the bigger the explosion. A fully-loaded gun will digistruct in the character's hand after the expended weapon is discarded. Pre-release promotions stated that, due to their explosive capabilities, there is a chance that Tediore weapons would explode in the user's hand before throwing it away. This mechanic did not make it into the finished product. Tediore no longer produces Assault Rifles, but now makes Rocket Launchers. Torgue weapons feature Gyrojet ammunition which balance area-of-effect damage with low projectile velocity and reduced magazine capacity, Torgue now exclusively produce Explosive-elemental weapons and are the only manufacturer to produce Explosive elemental weapons (exceptions to non-elemental Rocket Launchers and some unique weapons). Torgue no longer makes SMGs. Vladof continues their tradition of weapons with extremely high rates of fire, and produces rotating minigun-like barrels. Vladof uses materials that range from weathered wood to chrome like metal. Vladof no longer produces Shotguns. Miscellaneous Features Character customization - New gear, skins, and "heads" are available as drops from bosses and certain enemies and as mission, challenge, and levelling rewards. They feature varying grades of rarity. E-tech - A holdover from Borderlands Eridian weapons, E-tech is a barrel modification technique that works with all brands of weapons [2]. Badass Rank - Completing challenges increases Badass Rank, and the harder or higher level the challenge is, the more Badass Rank is given upon completion. Earning enough rank awards a Badass Token, redeemable for stat increases that apply to all characters of a profile. Optional objectives - There are now objectives that are not required (like keeping an ally above 50% health). Rewards are being tabulated. Elemental Nerfing - Where Borderlands elemental-based enemies could be killed with sheer bullet damage from a similarly based elemental weapon, Borderlands 2 enemies will take significantly less damage from weapons utilizing elements they have a resistance to. Multiple Choice Missions - Some missions will feature a choice in how they will be completed. Trading Interface - A trading system was created allowing players to formally trade or sell items. Players can also wager items to be dueled for. Traps - Some normally loot-dropping items (chests, plant pods, etc.) contain traps, from hostile enemies to live grenades. One Point Wonders - "Game changer" skills that can change available options and gameplay style but only require a small investment to unlock at a basic level. Eridium - A new element that can be used to augment other elemental powers. It is also a currency that can be used to upgrade backpack space capacity, weapon bank space, weapon ammo capacity, temporarily upgrade character abilities, and open special chests (DLC only) Promotions Premiere Club - Pre-Order bonus includes: The Golden Key - "Unlock a rare item in the mysterious Sanctuary Loot Chest." Vault Hunter's Relic - "Play solo or team up with friends and boost your gear hunting fortune with the Vault Hunter's Relic." Gearbox Gunpack - "A package of unique Gearbox Golden Guns to help you start your journey on Pandora." Consumers who pre-ordered Borderlands 2 received the Mechromancer DLC free of charge. Once beyond the corporations' petty squabbling, now the planet and its moon has changed hands too many times to count. Time was a traveler might find a desperate kind of freedom here. Now, it's as much a prison as when Dahl first broke ground. — Borderlands 3 in-game description ” Pandora is the mysterious planet on which the story of all of the games takes place. It is a barren, desolate world filled with dangerous creatures. Pandora's lone moon is named Elpis. Contents[show] Planetary Features Built by Eridians as an eternal prison for the Destroyer, Pandora has highly unusual features for a celestial body. Everything from aggressive fauna to unpredictable climate to sources of deadly mutations is specifically designed to attract, challenge, and at the same time repel conquerors, researchers and adventurers of all sorts.
Fauna The major forms of fauna on Pandora aggressively protect their territory; an approach is usually met with immediate attack. Pandora has many different creatures that are seldom friendly towards the Vault Hunters. These include skags, larva crab worms, scythid, spiderants, drifters, rakk, rakk hives, varkids, sand worms, bullymongs, threshers, boroks, scaylions, crystalisks, and many other dangerous creatures.

There are many undiscovered species on Pandora as well. Patricia Tannis also mentions there are many species of bugs. Some of these bugs are the glowing green flies seen when approaching a skag pile or toilets.
In the Parched Fathoms, one can see large structures resembling barnacles, while in Wurmwater there are many terrain features that appear to be made out of old, dead coral. This may indicate that some kind of marine fauna existed on Pandora, despite drastic climate changes, or these creatures are hibernating during Pandora's apparent dry season.
An intelligent species encountered on Pandora are the guardians, however it is revealed they are AI-controlled husks or models of Eridians. No actual Eridians are encountered, and these Guardians are believed to be protectors from the extinct Eridian civilization.
Flora There are a variety of plants on Pandora, although the local flora is sparse in many areas. The majority of the vegetation present is similar in appearance to flora found in the south-western United States. One of the most common plants or plant-analogues resembles cacti with orange glowing 'eyes' found throughout the desert-like environment of the Arid Badlands and beyond. This particular plant is possibly the "cesium cactus" referenced in the mission briefing for Big Game Hunter.
Other types of flora encountered include:
Mushroom-like growths can be found in the Arid Badlands and many of the cave areas (probably used as food for local animals and human settlers). In the Rust Commons, there is some plant life, including moss-like plants on the ground and large, sunflower-style plants that grow with 3 heads (apparently dangerous to settlers). Lily-pads appear in the large pools of water. Wild grasses, weeds and flowers can be seen to bloom in small patches throughout the zones. Dead, blackened trees can be found on various parts of the world. This may be seasonal and they just haven't awoken yet. One is located in the town of New Haven. Bladeflower Plants can be found in Skag Gully and elsewhere. T.K. Baha asks the Vault hunters to collect the seeds from them. They are the main cash crop of Pandora and are edible. Some of the local plant life introduced in Borderlands 2 are actually dangerous. Firemelons are a prime example, as they explode when disturbed, setting everything around them on fire. Geography The areas of Pandora encountered in the story consist of snowy or volcanic-ash-strewn mountainous areas, large desert valleys and coastal stretches. The terrain is criss-crossed with canyons, ravines, rocky outcrops and plateaus. Large bodies of water are also present bordering several of the zones. Due to the repeated presence of raised construction it is likely that many of these areas are much wetter environments during different times of the Pandoran year. Background100 Complete map of the East Coast Pandora
See also: Maps of the Borderlands Settlements One can roughly divide human settlements on Pandora into three different groups.
The first are military encampments established during the Crimson Lance occupation. These are huge, well fortified structures and bunkers, made of steel and concrete. In-game examples include the Crimson Enclave (designed to control the heart of the ECHOnet) and Fort Knoxx.
The non-hostile civilian establishments constitute the second group. Due to general lack of resources, the inhabitants laid their hands on the only material they had in abundance: scrap metal and garbage (however, occasionally there are more well-made structures made from wood or bricks, like Helena Pierce's office). Although not exactly solid or cozy, these buildings offer some proper conditions and facilities (like power, canalization, etc.), making them a good place to rest or make business. Without proper organization, many of these settlements were constructed virtually ad hoc, turning towns into densely populated mazes of blocks, stair flights, alleys, backyards, etc. When the fauna of Pandora turned hostile and the crime-levels soared, it became necessary for every town to hastily assemble rudimentary fortifications.
The third and the last group is loosely made of bandit camps of various kinds. These gangs reside in various places, occupying defunct industrial installations, inhabiting natural dwellings, or simply stacking up near the roads and towns, hoping for easy prey and loot. Their buildings are relatively simple: mostly huts and shacks, offering little more than primitive shelter, storage, and sometimes toilets. Only the most notorious leaders and the biggest groups manage to reach some kind of higher organization; some of these bases even achieved their own names, like Thor Digtown, Lockdown Palace, or Midgetville.
History Eridian Period Millennia before the events of Borderlands, a highly advanced Eridian civilization (said to not be gods nor demons, but people who were literally able to pluck stars from the sky) created Pandora and its moon Elpis in an effort to stop and imprison the cosmic entity known as The Destroyer. The planet itself was constructed with an impenetrable but unstable Eridium mantle, and a giant Eridian weapon known as The Warrior was used to protect it from those who attempted to stop the Eridians' work and gain favor with The Destroyer. A Siren named Nyriad completed the sealing of The Destroyer, leeching all the collective energy of the Eridians to perform this monumental task at the cost of their lives and civilization.
To keep The Destroyer fed and sedated, the Eridians spread rumors of what became known as "The Vault" to lure unsuspecting treasure hunters to their demise every 200 years. Little is known about what else the Eridians have done on the planet, but by the presence of various ruins and the famed Vaults containing The Warrior and the Guardians, it can be inferred that it was used as a remote prison location for other dangerous entities as well.
Colonization The Atlas corporation arrived at some point before the events of Borderlands. The company set up facilities in the search for the alien technology that was believed to be hidden on the planet. Outposts were established during this frenzy of activity, and new colonists began to settle in and around these makeshift archaeological digs.
Little or nothing was found, however word spread about the anticipated cache of technology within The Vault. Rumors soon circulated, triggering a second wave of fortune hunters to touch down on the marginally developed planet. Many of these people were heavily armed, highly driven, competitive, and had no affiliation with Atlas.
The Commerce Grid was most likely established as these freelancers started trading amongst themselves and Atlas employees. The Fast Travel Network was also likely established during this period to help facilitate the easy transmission of goods and services.
Decades before the events of Borderlands, the Dahl corporation arrived upon Pandora. The Crimson Lance, and by extension Atlas, still held the strongest controlling interest on Pandora at that time, so it is likely that Dahl entered under the pretext of mining Pandora's abundant mineral wealth. This was a boon to the local populace as it meant a sudden, prolonged influx of supplies, products, and materials for expansion. With the material came a new wave of trained, educated specialists, managers and planners. A new city, dubbed "Haven", was founded close to the Headstone Eridium mines, well away from Atlas interference.
New outposts were founded around mining resources. Prefabricated refineries and other large industrial facilities were quickly erected and put into operation to process the ore. In addition to the vast quantities of industrial might, slave labor was imported to Pandora in the form of off-world convicts.
The Dahl Withdrawal In the previous decades, Dahl investment on the planet has reached its peak, with the only real regular contribution being a steady trickle of off-world convicts, and a few essential goods. A kind of economic homeostasis has been reached; life was about as good on Pandora as it had ever been (which isn't saying much).
A little over two years before the events of Borderlands, Patricia Tannis took her first steps onto Pandora. The ECHOnet was established, or at least perfected, with technical expertise from Tannis. The first key fragment to the Vault was also discovered in or around Headstone Mine. Atlas somehow received word of the discovery, and deployed a large unit of Crimson Lance to Pandora, the 3rd Starborne Brigade out of D Company. Faced with the impending invasion of Atlas's soldiers, Dahl was forced to abandon their plans for Pandora and flee the planet.
The Dahl withdrawal was messy, leaving hundreds, if not thousands, of employees and their families behind. Little effort was made to take the heavy, expensive mining machinery off-world, apparently having been deemed too unimportant to risk more casualties or delays in extraction efforts. Among the resources that Dahl left behind was their mining vessel Sanctuary, which the Crimson Lance annexed into a large human settlement and put under martial law. As to Tannis, she was directed to abandon her work, although ultimately her research into the Vault gave her incentive enough to refuse her orders and she remained behind.
The off-world convicts were also left behind. They broke out from their various labor camps, using the materials and weapons of their former guards and eventually codified into feudal and tribal arrangements. A number of bandit lords rose to prominence among their number, each controlling various regions, some arranged in loose hierarchies with lesser leaders showing allegiance to the more powerful gangs. Haven was overrun by the bandits, prompting the residents to establish a new town further to the west, finding building materials easy to come by within a massive dump - New Haven.
The bandit lord Sledge, in possession of a Vault key fragment, rallied other unnamed bandit tribes under his banner. Through force of arms and ruthlessness, he terrorized the areas surrounding Headstone Mine in the effort to find more key fragments. Another key fragment initially found by Tannis fell into the hands of Krom, a rival bandit lord. Tannis, with her own agenda to open the Vault, had her transmissions intercepted by the Crimson Lance force led by Commandant Steele, who herself coveted the key to the Vault and began to hatch a plan to seize it for herself. And as all this was going on, four Vault Hunters sitting on a bus were suddenly contacted by a Guardian Angel. Guided by her, the Vault Hunters recovered the pieces of the Key and opened the Vault, releasing The Destroyer only to blast it into submission.
Fall of Atlas After the opening of the Vault, Atlas began to suffer a string of disasters. The first was the death of Commandant Steele during the Vault's opening, causing significant chaos in the ranks of the Crimson Lance. General Alphonso Knoxx made an (admittedly half-hearted) attempt to restore order to Pandora, but was also killed. The Atlas CEO was later poisoned and killed by Professor Nakayama of Hyperion, according to Nakayama himself.
Atlas was ultimately forced to leave Pandora, abandoning what remained of the Crimson Lance. With no sense of command anymore, the Lance went rogue. Some of them sought refuge in Old Haven and essentially shot at anybody that moved, but they were later wiped out by the Vault Hunters. Others were mentioned as having joined bandit tribes. After the events of Borderlands 2, Atlas was revived by former Hyperion Employee Rhys.
The Hyperion Age Five years later, Handsome Jack, now leader of the Hyperion corporation, took all credit for the opening of The Vault and became an overnight trillionaire with the discovery of Eridium (caused by the Destroyer's defeat cracking the planet's mantle) and patenting of E-tech technologies. He then took on the task of 'liberating' Pandora from its outlaw population using an army of loader robots, starting with the destruction of New Haven and its residents. He then proceeded with the goal of uncovering a second Vault, this time to gain control of the ancient Eridian weapon known as The Warrior. Combating the Hyperion takeover was the Crimson Raiders, a resistance force made up of former Vault Hunters and Crimson Lance that operated from Sanctuary, though it alone was clearly not enough to so much as put a dent in the corporate giant's power.
In order to stop others from awakening the Warrior before he could, Jack sent an off-world communique, hoping to attract treasure hunters to Pandora, where he would have them killed before they reached their goal. Little did he know that some treasure hunters don't die so easily, and six Vault Hunters who survived Jack's attempt to kill them joined with the Crimson Raiders, destroyed The Warrior, and killed Handsome Jack.
Following Jack's defeat, Hyperion presence on the planet became minimal due to the hostility of the native population and the lack of a clear goal providing a reason to be on Pandora. Hyperion presence was mainly relegated to the Helios space station until its destruction, which ultimately ended their occupation of the planet.
The Children of the Vault Over the course of the next seven years, the bandit tribes were united under the banner of the Children of the Vault. Led by the Siren Tyreen Calypso and her brother Troy, they began a campaign to release the seal on Pandora and take The Destroyer's power for themselves. The Crimson Raiders tried to fight back against the growing force of the COV's united strength and the Calypsos' live streamed propaganda, but their efforts continued to dwindle until a new group of Vault Hunters arrived to join their ranks. Together, they were able to ultimately kill the Calypsos before they could destroy the universe.

Borderlands 3 Regions Covenant Pass The Droughts Ascension Bluff Devil's Razor The Splinterlands Carnivora Guts of Carnivora Konrad's Hold Sandblast Scar Cathedral of the Twin Gods The Great Vault Destroyer's Rift The Slaughter Shaft Notes The map that comes with the Borderlands GOTY edition states that the game takes place on the east coast of Pandora. Correspondingly, an in-game texture taken from Borderlands 2 (seen above) indicates that game takes place in "Northwest Coast Section 12". Despite Borderlands and Borderlands 2 sharing at least one location (Arid Nexus - Badlands/The Arid Badlands), the included map makes its specific location unclear. However, based on the location of its connection to the Eridium Blight, the Arid Badlands (and much of the previous game's areas) are to the north of most Borderlands 2 locations. There are a large number of stranded boats, bridges over dried up rivers, houses on stilts and towns with docks far from water, the town of Oasis in particular which is built like a seaside resort but has no water and has recently experienced a drought that has killed all the townsfolk except Shade. This suggests that the sea level on Pandora fluctuates wildly and that winter is a 'wet' season while summer is a 'drought' season. This unexpected rapid change in climate could have contributed to the hardships of the first settlers and led to the colonists adapting by storing water in the many water towers during the winter to survive through the summer. Parameters of Pandora as a celestial body from the lore[citation needed] are physically inaccurate and impossible. First off, as seen in the games, this planet actually does not rotate itself (it is tidally locked), and all available to visit regions reside on the side that faces away from its sun. So the 'rotation period' of 90 hours is actually an orbital period of Elpis, and the day-night cycle is defined by the reflected sunlight. That should have the following consequences: Pandora's sun is far more luminous than Earth's, and Elpis is much closer to Pandora than Moon is to Earth. If life on Pandora's far side is sustained by the reflected sunlight, then the Pandora's sun is a white subgiant star, and other side is heated to the point of melting, as well as entire surface of Elpis (if it doesn't have an albedo of 99.999%, but it doesn't). Pandora's atmosphere shouldn't actually exist in that case too because of solar wind evaporation. Elpis should have much lower orbit than depicted in games, and probably would be unstable to the point of gravitational tearing (so the 'crackening' is a very valid consequence from that standpoint, but it should be much more violent and would result in a formation of a ring system). It is highly doubtful that a habitable zone around a white subgiant star can even exist. If it does, habitable planet's orbit must reside further away from the star, and orbital period is much longer than described 10 Earth years. Also, with a given eccentricity, seasonal changes will be much more severe than a sudden flash-freeze or a drying up, but much slower. Trivia In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman. Prometheus stole fire from Mount Olympius and gave it to man, Zeus punished Prometheus by creating Pandora. For fear of additional reprisals, Prometheus warned his brother Epimetheus against accepting any gifts from Zeus, but Epimetheus did not listen, and married Pandora. Pandora had been given a large jar (Pandora's box) and instruction by Zeus to keep it closed, but she had also been given the gift of curiosity, and ultimately opened it. When she opened it, all of the evils, ills, diseases, and burdensome labor that mankind had not known previously, escaped from the jar. As she quickly tried to close it again, all of the content in the jar already escaped, except for the one thing at the very bottom: hope. Pandora's moon is called Elpis. In Greek Mythology, Elpis is the spirit/god of Hope and the last thing freed from Pandora's Box. Pandora is one of many Greek Mythology references in the game. "Pandora" and "Prometheus" are two of Saturn's inner moons. Borderlands Wiki Borderlands Wiki 7,418 PAGES ADD NEW PAGE BORDERLANDS UNIVERSE BORDERLANDS 3 COMMUNITY EXPLORE DISCUSS in: Weapons, Manufacturers Manufacturer English EDIT SHARE There are twelve official manufacturers in Borderlands, each with their own characteristics and trademarks. The manufacturers produce all of the offensive and defensive equipment encountered throughout the game. Each manufacturer also classifies weapons based on their strength which can be seen here.
Two of the manufacturers, Anshin and Pangolin, do not produce projectile weapons.
Raf,750x1000,075,t,101010 01c5ca27c6 All weapon manufacturer logos except Scav and COV.
BL3-Logos Redesigned logos from Borderlands 3, as well as Scav and COV logos.
Contents[show] Borderlands Weapon Manufacturers These are the primary producers of the equipment encountered on Pandora. These companies produce weapons, grenade mods, class mods and shields.
Appearance note: The appearances listed here are accurate with most weapons, and vary according to Material Grade.
Atlas - Above average damage and magazine capacity. Appearance: White, with more black detailing at higher material grades. Marcus: "Buy an Atlas and you too can see what it feels like to hold the power of the gods in your hands." Marcus: "Atlas spares no expense in making guns that excel in every area." Dahl - High recoil reduction, at the cost of accuracy. Appearance: Various camouflage patterns differing across material grades. Marcus: "Dahl's guns absorb a lot of recoil, allowing you to stay accurate throughout the fight! Marcus: "Dahl make guns for professional Mercs. They're heavy, accurate, and effective... assuming you're strong enough to hold one." Eridian - Alien weaponry, deals generally high damage with unlimited ammunition but often suffers from slow recharge. Appearance: Organic, easily told apart from normal weapons. Hyperion - Very high recoil reduction and accuracy. Appearance: Red, darker and more metallic at higher material grades. Marcus: "Hyperion asks, "What good is a gun that doesn't shoot where you point?" Get a gun that's as accurate as you are!" Marcus: "Enemies only die if you hit em'. So buy Hyperion today." Jakobs - Never manufactures elemental weapons. Very high damage, but with lower fire rate and recoil reduction. Appearance: Orange and brown, with wooden gloss finishes at higher material grades. Marcus: "If it took more than one shot, you weren't using a Jakobs!" Marcus: "Jakobs guns do one thing really well, power!... and honestly, what else do you need?" Maliwan - Only manufactures elemental weapons, which have much higher tech regeneration rates. Also benefits from marginal increases to accuracy and reload speed. Appearance: Hues of blue, brighter colors at higher material grades. Marcus: "Is shooting bullets just not cool enough for you? Get a Maliwan and light some people on fire!" Marcus: "Maliwan guns shoot more lightning than the next leading competitor." S&S Munitions - Very high magazine capacity. Usually manufactures elemental weapons. Appearance: Yellow and black, more contrast at higher material grades. Marcus: "The S&S philosophy is: Tech plus Ammo Capacity equals I WIN!" Marcus: "If you find that your gun just doesn't hold enough bullets, then S&S has the solution! More bullets! All S&S guns have extended magazines." Tediore - Extremely fast reload speed, with a slight compromise on damage and accuracy. Appearance: Matte gray, lighter gray to beige at higher material grades Marcus: "Cheap, reliable, lightweight and incredibly fast reload speeds. Tediore makes an easy to use gun." Marcus: "If you're on a budget, Tediore is always the way to go!" Torgue - High damage and slightly higher fire rate, but suffers from much lower accuracy and recoil reduction. Appearance: Dark gray to black, darker and more metallic at higher material grades. Marcus: "400 percent more awesome! Also, Torgue doesn't make their guns out of freakin' wood!" Marcus: "Torgue combines good damage, high firerate, and recoil reduction into one lethal weapon." Vladof - Very high fire rate, good recoil reduction, but suffers from much lower accuracy. Appearance: Orange and black, more contrast at higher material grades. Marcus: "Vladof: you don't need to be a better shot, you just need to shoot more bullets!" Marcus: "Wanna shoot a lot of bullets really fast? Vladof has your needs covered!" Manufacturer's Products Not all weapons are produced by a given manufacturer; each manufacturer produces only several types of weapons.

Instead they produce high-quality class mods, Grenade mods and shields.
Anshin - Transfusion grenades and rapidly recharging shields. Pangolin - Rubberized Grenades and high-capacity shields. Special Manufacturer Special items bearing the game-developer's mark can be found in the game. The best known example of this is the Rider sniper rifle.
Gearbox - Manufacturer using the name of Borderlands development studio. All weapon types have a Gearbox variant and statistically have increased damage and slightly higher recoil. Appearance: Bright, unorthodox colors varying by grade. Stock - No mark appears but the items exist the manufacturer is used for health vials and packs as well as stock weapons (The guns enemies use that they don't drop) Withdrawn Manufacturer So far only one manufacturer has been found that has been cut from the game.
Corazza - Likely shield energy leeching grenade mods and some form of useful shield ability. Favorite Manufacturer In the character info tab, behind the character is the logo of a "favorite manufacturer". This means that the character has fired the most bullets from that specific manufacturer.
Class mods, grenade mods, shields and Action Skills do not affect this. Therefore, it is impossible to get Anshin or Pangolin as a favorite manufacturer.
Most Outrunner-weapons, including those from The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, and the Mulciber Mk2 are considered Tediore-weapons. The only exceptions on this rule are the Blast and Mine seat from the Lancer, which are manufactured by Atlas.
Multipliers such as on a Double Anarchy or a shotgun do not assist in bullet-count. Firing a Dahl Shotgun once only counts as one bullet for Dahl.
Material Grade Notes Generally, a weapon of a higher Material Grade will be better in all aspects than exactly the same weapon with a lower grade. However, several manufacturers have a few distinct differences between grades 2 and 3 that do not apply to this general rule.
With Jakobs manufactured weapons, weapons of grade 2 are more accurate than the other grades, have a reduced rate-of-fire and have a lower damage boost than grade 1. Grade 2 also boosts the weapon's zoom level slightly. Grade 3 has the largest damage boost the lowest accuracy and gives the weapon's projectiles a knockback effect. Hyperion weapons with grade 2 have a rate of fire bonus that grade 3 weapons do not have, on the other hand the same weapon in grade 3 has a reload speed bonus instead as well as even further increased accuracy over grade 2. Some manufacturers materials also specify the prefix of their weapons' names (e.g., Hyperion Crimson, Atlas Pearl). At priority level 3, these prefixes often override other would-be beneficial prefixes. For example, a Hyperion "Genocide Destroyer" becomes a "Crimson Destroyer" when material 3 is present, losing the effect of the "Genocide" prefix.
Manufacturers that exhibit this naming behavior are: Atlas, Dahl, Hyperion, Maliwan and Torgue. Manufacturers that do not exhibit this behavior are Jakobs, S&S Munitions, Tediore and Vladof. Borderlands 2 & The Pre-Sequel Weapon manufacturers There are eight weapon manufacturers in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

For other weapons, see Revolver and Repeater. Repeater Pistols are small, one-handed guns that are generally used by Mordecai or Lilith. They tend to be fairly accurate and fast, with decent sized magazines and fast reload times. They are also known to have slower rates of fire and scopes. They deal moderate damage, but they have increased magazine sizes and fire rates compared to revolvers. Even pistols with high accuracy ratings seem to be less accurate at long ranges than weapons such as combat rifles or sniper rifles, due to their relatively slow-moving rounds. Another downside to using pistols as long-range weapons is their stability; even the ones with scopes are far less stable than two-handed rifles.
Repeaters are the basic pistol. They typically have decent fire rates combined with decent power and accuracy. These pistols are very common early on in the game and can be serviceable backup weapons. Unique or legendary repeaters can be especially useful. Repeaters are made by Atlas, Dahl, Hyperion, Maliwan, S&S Munitions, Tediore, Torgue, and Vladof.
Machine Pistols are less common than repeaters, but have the advantage of larger magazines and being fully automatic (although some, such as the Rage, have burst fire). On occasion, some very high power machine pistols will be accompanied by high rates of fire, but lower accuracy, creating powerful close range weapons; similar to the utility of a submachine gun, but using different ammo. These high rate of fire pistols are particularly useful when combined with Mordecai's Gun Crazy skill, which gives him a chance to fire 2 shots for the cost of one. Additionally, his Hair Trigger skill increases the magazine size, allowing for longer bursts of fire with them. Machine pistols are made by Hyperion, S&S Munitions, and Vladof.
Repeater pistols (like most weapons subtypes) were phased out in Borderlands 2 in favour of the more general Pistol weapon type, with Dahl, Bandit, Vladof and Hyperion making aesthetically similar weapons to Repeater pistols.

Once rumours of its existence began to spread, the interest in its contents drew the attention of many, from small groups and individual prospectors to large-scale weapons manufacturers. The original intent of the corporations was to utilize the Vault technology for power and gain. A few select Vault Hunters are contacted by a Guardian Angel who reinforces belief in the Vault, and guides them on their mission to find it.
Borderlands 2 goes on to reveal that there is more than one Vault upon Pandora, as well as several other Vaults across the galaxy. Another Vault on Pandora, known as the Vault of the Warrior, houses an Eridian superweapon.
Contents[show] History Vault logo white The Vault logo, also used as the Borderlands logo.
The Vault is an enigmatic place that is drenched in myth and folklore. After the Atlas corporation found a cache of alien weaponry on Promethea, legends began to emerge about vaults on other worlds. Popular myths and legends held that the Vault must contain something amazing. According to Marcus, the Pandoran Vault would give the finder advanced alien technology, fame, power, and women.
Legend These legends, combined with the Atlas discovery, led to a "Gold Rush" of people heading to Pandora to settle in and look for the Vault. Even as the search continued and eventually waned, seasonal change on Pandora brought Summer upon the human inhabitants, and with it a new threat as the indigenous life awoke from hibernation and began to feed. Those who had once sought the legendary riches of the Vault found themselves under attack and with little to no further evidence of the Vault's existence they began to flee the planet. Those who could not afford to leave stayed behind, but the legends of the Vault remained.
Finding the Key An archaeologist named Patricia Tannis, funded by the Dahl Corporation, was sent with a team to Pandora several years before the game begins to research the Vault and find out if it existed, where it was, what was in it, and how to open it. Tannis gradually lost her sanity thanks to the rigours of life on Pandora, while also becoming completely obsessed with finding the Vault as her team were systematically killed by the local fauna.

Through her research, Tannis discovered that the Vault could be opened at a specific date that came every two hundred years by using a special key comprised of three puzzle-like fragments. She recovered one of the Vault Key fragments, but ultimately lost it to bandits through a misjudged attempt to hide it. It was then that she realized she had a form of psychosis preventing her from leaving her camp at the archaeological site, so she remained there and sent out a call for Vault hunters to help her retrieve the key pieces and open the Vault.
Atlas Interference Once the location of the Vault is uncovered and the key is assembled, the Atlas corporation uses its private military, the Crimson Lance, to seize the key and declare all contents of the Vault to be the property of Atlas. The Lance leader, Commandant Steele takes the key down the Descent, battling Guardians the whole way, and eventually opens the Vault.
Inside the Vault When the Vault is finally opened, the truth of its existence is fully revealed. It was not the technology cache that the legends had spoken of, but a prison containing The Destroyer, an ancient and powerful monstrosity intent on consuming everyone in its path. Commandant Steele finds out too late the extent of her mistake as she and her men are brutally slaughtered in short order.
In the Borderlands official guide, it is revealed that the Eridians sacrificed their entire civilization to imprison the Destroyer inside the Vault. The Guardians were created to protect the Vault and prevent anyone from opening it. If it was ever freed, the Destroyer would have eventually consumed the universe. After the Vault hunters destroy the Destroyer, the Vault reseals itself and cannot be opened again for two-hundred years. The Guardian Angel reveals that in its home realm the Destroyer is indestructible, however it requires a host body to survive in this one and is vulnerable.
Epilogue The Guardian Angel explains that she had known what the Vault contained and had guided the Vault hunters from the outset to protect the universe from the Destroyer. She expresses regret for the deception, but insists that it was the only way to ensure that the Vault hunters would be well positioned to defeat the Destroyer. As the story comes to a close the Guardian Angel is revealed to be a projected apparition from the Hyperion satellite 4N631 in orbit around Pandora, and then some distance away from these events a Claptrap is shown to be struck by a bolt of energy, its optic receptor changing from blue to red, and the Claptrap then rises and strikes a pose, reintroduced as an "Interplanetary Ninja Assassin".
In Borderlands: The Pre Sequel, it is revealed that Jack planned to use Angel to encourage the Vault Hunters to open the vault, and to ultimately obtain the Destroyer for himself and harness its power as a weapon. Jack obtained the Eye of the Destroyer and brought it back to Helios to experiment on. When force-fed Eridium, the Eye of the Destroyer can generate immense amounts of energy, which was focused into a super-weapon capable of destroying entire settlements, and was used by Zarpedon in the near-destruction of Elpis.
Aftermath The opening of the Vault triggered the appearance of Eridium throughout Pandora. This event also gained the attention of Hyperion's President, Handsome Jack, who masterminded the events of the first game through his daughter, Angel.

In Playthrough 2 this unlocks access to a third playthrough-like setting where every creature in Pandora will be advanced to maximum levels, regardless of whether The Destroyer is killed or not. Trivia The planet of Pandora and its Vault are references to the story of Pandora's box from Greek mythology. The Vault Key and each of its fragments has certain texts: 1st Vault Key Piece (Sledge, Sledge: Battle For The Badlands): Sledge's chest contained this mysterious object. 2nd Vault Key Piece (Krom, The Next Piece): A low hum emanates from within, and it is warm to the touch. 3rd Vault Key Piece (Rakk Hive, Another Piece Of The Puzzle): This piece is cold to the touch. Complete Vault Key (The Destroyer, Bring The Vault Key To Tannis): This thing has certainly caused its fair share of trouble. The Vault's symbol is visible all over the human inhabited region of Pandora. It appears frequently in bandit graffiti, as well as on the face masks of bandits themselves. The symbol is used further in the sequels to Borderlands as a symbol representing countless vaults. v • d • e Places on Pandora Borderlands The Arid Badlands (Fyrestone, Titan's End) • The Dahl Headlands (Lucky's Last Chance Watering Hole, Ludicrous Speedway) • The Rust Commons East (Cauldron, Jaynistown, Middle of Nowhere) • The Rust Commons West (Outeryard, Underpass) • The Salt Flats • Arid Hills • The Backdoor • Crimson Enclave • Crimson Fastness • The Descent • Earl's Scrapyard • Eridian Promontory • Headstone Mine • Krom's Canyon • Lost Cave • New Haven (Hidden basement) • Old Haven • Skag Gully • Sledge's Safe House • Tetanus Warren • Trash Coast • Treacher's Landing • The Vault DLC1 Jakobs Cove • Lumber Yard • Hallow's End • Dead Haven • Generally Hospital • The Mill DLC2 The Underdome • Hell-Burbia • The Angelic Ruins • The Gully DLC3 Parched Fathoms • T-Bone Junction • The Crimson Tollway • Deep Fathoms • Moxxi's Red Light • The Ridgeway • Sunken Sea (Midgetville, World's Largest Bullet) • Lockdown Palace • Circle of Duty • Road's End • Crimson Armory • Crawmerax's Lair DLC4 Tartarus Station • Hyperion Dump • Sanders Gorge • Dividing Faults • Scorched Snake Canyon • Wayward Pass • The Arid Badlands Arenas Fyrestone Coliseum • The Cesspool • The Devil's Footstool See also Maps of the Borderlands Categories: Borderlands locations Languages: Français Русский Українська Community content is available under CC-BY-SA unless otherwise noted.

Mad Moxxi is an NPC mission provider. She is the hostess of the Colosseum matches in The Underdome in Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, and the owner of various bars on Pandora.
Moxxi could be summed up with the words sadistic, lustful, alluring, and dangerous. She enjoys violence and combat, having been a skilled fighter in her earlier years. Modesty has little to do with Moxxi, especially when it comes to sex. Her affairs are innumerable and she has had several husbands, and her lovers have been both male and female. She is also surprisingly refined in her tastes and mannerisms, always speaking with a seductive tone and an innuendo soon following.
Moxxi, despite her violent tastes, is also friendly and rather compassionate when fighting is not involved. She is a caring mother, in her own Pandoran way, and can be protective of her children and others close.
Background Moxxi was originally a member of the Hodunk clan. She grabbed her children and split from the Hodunks to prevent her daughter Ellie becoming the clan wife. Moxxi has been married at least three times to different husbands. She mothered a son, Scooter, with Jimbo Hodunk presumably back when she was part of the Hodunk clan.
Mr. Shank from The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is officially her second as she "mourns" the death of her "second husband" after Mr. Shank's death. Her third husband was Marcus Kincaid, as revealed in the mission Safe and Sound. She was also involved, at least sexually, with Lucky Zaford according to her son Scooter, but there is no indication as to whether or not he was one of her husbands. She created The Underdome to keep herself occupied while she searched for a new husband. She has also been involved in a relationship with Handsome Jack, as made evident in the Borderlands 2 side mission "Hell Hath No Fury". However, there is no evidence that they were ever married.
Involvement FOV70 redlight 4 Moxxi in her Red Light bar
Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot Moxxi's first appearance is in her eponymous Underdome, where she acts as hostess and announcer.
The Secret Armory of General Knoxx In The Secret Armory of General Knoxx she is part of the main mission line, and assigns missions from Moxxi's Red Light. As more is found out about her, she is revealed to be Scooter's mother. She offers a mission to deal with her second husband, Mr. Shank.
Borderlands 2 In Borderlands 2 Moxxi resides in Sanctuary. Sometime between the two games, she was involved with Mordecai after he won the Underdome, but left him because he was inattentive. Later she dated Handsome Jack, who destroyed the Underdome after she in turn left him. From her bar in Sanctuary, she provides limited material support to the Vault Hunters and is involved in a handful of missions.
In Borderlands 2 and its DLCs, there are a number of Moxxi-themed Unique weapons which share the trait of healing the wielder for a portion of all damage done.
Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage Moxxi appears in Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage, running the Badass Crater Bar and serving as the Vault Hunters' agent and sponsor once she is rescued from Pyro Pete. She oversees the Vault Hunters' progress through various challenges, arranging battles and even hiring Tiny Tina to help train the Vault Hunters. In the ending, Moxxi is heard negotiating with Mr. Torgue over signing ownership of the Torgue Arena to her, lest Torgue's shareholders find out about the illegal deathmatches he's been hosting.
Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep Moxxi appears in Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, again as a proprietress of a drinking establishment (this time a tavern). She plays a minor part in the story and offers a few optional missions, but has no major involvement in the campaign.
Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre Moxxi is the host of the fourth Headhunter episode, Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre, in which she and Ellie attempt to set up a wedding between two Goliaths of the Zaford and Hodunk clans so as to bring peace to both sides.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Moxxi reappears as a major character in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, where she is the proprietor of the Up Over Bar in Concordia. Jack approaches her to help reclaim Helios from the Lost Legion, despite the fact that he and Moxxi are no longer romantically involved. Moxxi helps Jack and his Vault Hunters locate the jamming signal coming from Crisis Scar but is apprehensive about helping Jack further until it becomes clear that Colonel Zarpedon plans to destroy Elpis with the Eye of Helios. She also recruits former Vault Hunters Lilith and Roland to help Jack retake Helios. She does not join Jack or the Vault Hunters returning to the station, but she assists in remotely deactivating some of Zarpedon's defenses on Helios.
After Jack and the Vault Hunters defeat Zarpedon and reach the Eye of Helios, Moxxi instructs them on how to deactivate the superweapon. Fearing Jack's ambition and megalomania, Moxxi, Lilith, and Roland betray him and destroy the Eye but fail to kill Jack, who swears revenge. After this point, Moxxi disappears from the game.
Tales from the Borderlands Moxxi does not appear in-person in Tales from the Borderlands, but her voice is heard in the first episode, Zer0 Sum, when Zer0 speaks to her over Echo after killing Bossonova.
Borderlands 3 Moxxi is featured in Borderlands 3 running her own bar aboard Sanctuary III. She also serves as a mission giver for side missions.
Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot She takes a more prominent role in Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot in which she tasks the vault hunters to help her take over Handsome Jack's casino space station as a (late) revenge for destroying her Underdome. She reunites with Timothy Lawrence, Handsome Jack's doppelganger, implying there was some romance between them in the past.

Several items in the game associated with her can be generated with the special prefix "Miss Moxxi's" (by default): Bad Touch, Good Touch, Rubi, Heart Breaker, Creamer, Kiss of Death, Chère-amie, Slow Hand, Kitten, Grog Nozzle, Crit. Also, the Moxxi's Endowment relic always has the prefix "Moxxi's". In the original Borderlands 2, Moxxi did not have an intro; however, in Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage DLC, she now has one. Trivia "Did I promise you a show, or didn't I? Who loves you, and who do you love?" is a reference to the movie The Running Man. Damon Killian is the host of a game show where criminals battle against gladiators in an arena and he constantly says that line to the audience throughout the movie. "SWF Looking 4 STR" means "Single White Female looking for Short Term Relationship". The card in her hat is the Queen of Hearts. The word moxie means "vigor" or "courage and aggressiveness." The word was coined by an advertising campaign associating those qualities with the Moxie brand soft drink, which was one of the first mass-produced soft drinks and can still be found in parts of New England. When a crosshair is pointed onto Moxxi inside the arena, she appears as level "00", and has "[NONE]" where her name should be. Mad Moxxi is a reference to Mad Max of the "Mad Max" series of movies, and the Underdome is a riff on the Thunderdome of the third film. "And Then There Were None" is the title (actually, a re-title) of a book by Agatha Christie, referring to the last line of a nursery rhyme in which ten people die one by one. Moxxi's appearance draws inspiration from characters in Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The top hat with a card in it is symbolic of the "Mad Hatter", while the card itself, her preference for red clothing, the tattoo on her left breast, and her sadism all invoke images of the "Queen of Hearts". "You're doing so well. I can't stop now" is a reference to the slasher film Scream. Ghostface says this to a character after the victim answers his trivia question. According to the Borderlands GOTY strategy guide, the pistol she carries is named Rubi; her holster is also inscribed with the word "Rubi". This is confirmed in Borderlands 2, and Rubi may be obtained as a weapon. The back of Moxxi's clothing is inscribed with the symbol of the Freemasons. However, rather than the expected letter "G" inside the symbol, there is instead a series of geometric patterns that resemble a diamond. Additionally, rather than the engineering instruments of Masonry making up the sign, the V and inverted V resemble the symbols for the Vault. Moxxi's accent is apparently an act, as when she is tipped in Borderlands 2, she may ramble into her real, heavy southern accent. She makes a plea not to tell anyone of her "old accent". (this, and any of her other soundbites, can only happen when she is given a tip). In Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, it's revealed that Moxxi goes into her Hodunk accent (with matching wardrobe) when she's alone and working in her garage. When the Vault Hunters catch her in the act, Moxxi threatens them to keep quiet about it or she'll have Scooter bury them in a shallow grave (like he did with Lucky Zaford). Moxxi will give two guns when given enough tips. The Good Touch, which is incendiary and the Bad Touch, which is corrosive. They are strong guns but she sometimes won't offer them without first being tipped excessive sums. Moxxi's favorite gun is the Good Touch, due to the fact that it vibrates. Although never directly stated in-game, Moxxi is bisexual. In the Underdome Riot DLC, Moxxi displays some kind of interest in Lilith and even calls her "delicious." In Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage, she states that she has dated Motor Momma, but dumped her because of her cannibalism, specifically eating one of her girlfriends, and also states that Maya gives her a "ladyboner". Several generic female NPCs also have idle dialogue such as asking if Moxxi mentioned them. Despite this, she has no known wives, and shows an equal attraction to males. Despite her promiscuity, she states that she does not cheat on those she is married with. Moxxi was once in a relationship with Handsome Jack. He destroyed the Underdome out of spite after she dumped him. Moxxi draws items from her cleavage and she has been shown extracting both drinks and weapons. In the Mad Moxxi's Underdrome Riot opening scene, her second husband is the shadow of Steve, and he even says Steve's signature "Heyoo!", but Moxxi's second is stated as being Mr.Shank in mission dialogue. Moxxi appears in Poker Night 2 where she is the bartender. Media K9uammthwvnzkq0w In the role of hostess in The Underdome. Moxxed In the opening cinematic of Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot. Gender Female Voice Actor Jamie Marchi Contents[show] Ellie is an NPC introduced in Borderlands 2. She is Mad Moxxi's daughter and Scooter's sister, and is the mechanic that introduces the Bandit Technical.
Background Ellie and her family were part of the Hodunk clan, until the Hodunks decided to make her the clan-wife. Disgusted, Moxxi killed the clan leader at the time and took both her children with her, eventually ending up in Sanctuary.
Ellie became so fed up with Moxxi's insistence that she slim down her physique that she left Sanctuary and moved into The Dust, worrying her mother with the fact that she intentionally puts herself in the middle of the ongoing clan war between the Hodunks and the Zafords.
Involvement When the Vault Hunters have need of a bandit vehicle to get past the Bloodshot gang, they are directed to Ellie. Unfortunately, the Bandit Technical she had was crushed shortly before the Vault Hunters' arrival, so she sets a task of collecting various car parts to complete another.

"Hey! Got a job for ya." "Wanna help me with somethin'?" "Wanna give me a hand with somethin'?" During an active mission
"How ya doin'?" "Still workin' on that?" "Hey, take your time with that job we talked 'bout. No rush." Mission turn in
"Day-yummm! You are good." "Awww, I knew you wouldn't let me down." "So, how'd it go?" No new missions available
"I considered makin' up some errand so we could hang out, but nah. Got nothin' for ya." "I'm alright -- no new jobs. How you doin'?" "I can't think of anythin' I need done. If I do, though, you'll be the first to know." While idle
"Nice to see a friendly face around here. You're the first person hasn't been throwin' insults or hatchets at me in quite some time." "Is Scooter doin' alright? He found a girlfriend yet, or has he finally admitted what I been suspectin' for years?" "You'd be surprised how much money there is to be made in sellin' scrap. Bandits make the cars, I bust 'em apart, then sell it all back to them so they can make new cars. They got real angry a few months back once they figured out I was the one scrappin' their cars in the first place, but hell -- what are they gonna do? They can't kill me, and they still need scrap. Livin' the dream." "Stare all ya like." "Moxxi ain't send ya, did she? I swear, if she sends another merc out here to convince me to come back to Sanctuary, I'ma lose it." "You lookin' at my tattoo? It's a Hodunk clan thing. Kinda like brandin' cattle, but way creepier somehow." "While them other folks was openin' the first Vault, I was hangin' out at the north pole, studyin' with some monk mechanics. Learned a lot there – like, don't go to the north pole." "Ain't no hurry on any of these missions, sweetheart. They'll be waitin' for ya." "Moxxi and I ain't exactly been on speakin' terms fer a while. Don't get me wrong – love her to death, and if it weren't fer her, I'd be dead. But she thinks a woman ain't worth a damn if she can't fit into a corset, and you can only take so much of that crap." "Hey – if you ever hurt Scooter, I'll kill you and your whole family. Haha! Just kiddin'. I'll only kill your family." Unrelated mumblings
"Ah, hell." "Ooooh!" "What on earth is that?" "Damn!" "Ahhhhh." Radio commercials
"Hi there! This is Ellie, owner of Ellie's garage out in The Dust. Just bought me some airtime so's I could get a quick message out to the Hodunk clan. Ahem. Dear Hodunks: SUCK IT! Love, Ellie." "This here's Ellie from Ellie's Garage, lettin' ya know that I can fulfill all your scrap metal needs. You need wheels? Got 'em. Mufflers? Got 'em. Those sharp little rusty bits that I don't even know what they do but they give you tetanus if you so much as look at 'em funny? Got twelve of those bitches. So come on down to Ellie's garage, where our motto is, If you give me any lip, I'll throw your ass into a car crusher!" "If you need scrap, I'm your girl! Come on down to Ellie's Garage -- and don't forget to kill a few Hodunks on the way!" "Hi, I'm Ellie, of Ellie's Garage. Come for the scrap metal, stay for the awkward flirtin'." Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep New mission available
"You're gonna like this one." "You want it XP? I got it!" "Hey! New quest!" During an active mission
"How goes yer quest?" "Kicked any orcs in the wing-wong?" "Everythin' goin' good?" No new missions available
"Got nothin' right now, but you'll be the first to know once I do." "Man, I envy you. You get to go out there and put the hurt on the Sorcerer's goons, while I gotta stick around here lookin' hot. Gets kinda borin'." "Man, part of me really wishes Scooter hadn't gotten eaten by that dragon." While idle
"Yep. Drink it ALLLL in." "Man, I wish this place'd get invaded by zombies. I wanna decapitate some fools." "So, how you been? Ain't seen you for a while." Unrelated mumblings
"Aw, hell." "Friggin' Sorcerer." "Armor's chafin' me." "Can't wait till the queen gets back." "Yer makin' a name for yourself." Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary New Catch-A-Ride welcome messages
"This here's a Catch-a-Ride! We got wenches with wrenches, and cars for days!" "Welcome to the Catch-a-Ride! You'd look better in a rig!" I'll give you a whole seat, but all you're gonna need is the edge!" "Get yer rear in gear and Catch-a-Ride, you beautiful sumbitch." "Kickin dust is for chumps -- you need wheels, amigo!" "Walking round Pandora's how you get yourself killed. Get in a rollcage and kick some ass!" "Nothin attracts members of whatever-sex-ya-fancy like a few tons of hot steel!" While idle Some of the idle chats are mission related and can't be heard again once the mission in question is completed.
"I'm mad as hell! I been workin' my ass off to keep that city goin', and now this Hector fella just ups an' takes it? Uhn-uh!" "I'm thinking 'bout marchin' right back up there and shovin' ol' Shotty right up that Hector fella's root sack." "Guess I'll start making myself cozy here. Hell, there's enough scrap around, I could start up a new shop." "Before he passed, my brother Scooter told me to keep Sanctuary a-hummin', and that's what I'm gonna do. Murder-plants or nah." "Lil's takin this hard. Ain't easy making decisions like this. That's why I let ol' Shotty make 'em for me!" "That sexy li'l bandit toothpick's been givin' me the elevator eyes. It's alright, I've been doin' the same thing. Heh-heh." "Mordecai ain't looking too swell. If we don't find him a cure for them vines soon, someone's might have to, you know..." "Dahl used to be king of the hill 'round here, but when Pandora turned out to be more trouble than it's worth, they abandoned the planet -- and left all their people behind." "I know y'all get all hot and bothered about finding more Vaults out there, but me? I just wanna to see some new sights." "Don't worry, Vault Hunter. I'll hold down the homefront while you're gone." "That space station Helios was pain in my sumptuous rear. Hard to believe it's actually gonna help us out for a change." "You have fun smackin' those Hyperion bots around. That sounds like a good ol' time!" "That Tiny Toot sure knows how to throw a bomb together. And with style! You see that goddamn thing? Like a dragon. Awesome." "I miss Sanctuary. Guess it ain't until ya leave a place that ya start to realize it's become your home." "You get that antidote yet, Vault Hunter? One thing's for sure: any of them murder-plants try to drag me into their garden of terror, I'ma shoot my way out." "Wish I could see the look on that Hector fella's face right when you take him out! Ooh, you know what? Snap a picture for me." "We're all safe here. That firewall is a masterful piece of Bandit ingenuity. Probably means they stole it." "You gonna take back Sanctuary or what, Vault Hunter?" "I knew you could do it, but hooo-damn if you didn't do it with some style, V-H." "Real shame about Sanctuary, but man, she was barely kickin' as it was. At least this way she went out with some pizzazz." "Me an' that bandit boy with the bod are really hittin' it off, if you catch my subtle and erotic drift." "You see Brick's little garden? It's really comin' along! But, uh, if he offers you any produce I'd give that a hard pass." Trivia One of the reasons she moved to The Dust is stated in a quote, for she believed her brother, Scooter, might have had a crush on her. Scooter reluctantly confirms that this was in fact true. During the opening of the first Vault, she was at the North Pole, studying with some monk mechanics. The main thing she learned was not to go to the North Pole. She makes money by scrapping bandit cars, then selling the scrap back to them to make new ones. Her tattoo is a Hodunk thing, like branding cattle. C'mon catch a ride! Read more > The Secret Armory of General Knoxx logo The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is the third in the series of downloadable content packs for Borderlands.[1] Gearbox Software first announced it on January 21st, 2010, stating that it would be "the largest DLC for Borderlands to date" and would provide "new challenges and opportunities for growth for characters from around level 34 to level 50."[2] It was released for Xbox 360 on February 23rd and for PC and PS3 on February 25th.[3] Contents[show] Plot After uncovering the secrets of the Vault and the sudden death of Commandant Steele, The Crimson Lance led by General Knoxx launch a massive battalion to Pandora and control most of the Parched Fathoms, a region that once had massive oceans that dried up due to Pandora's sudden climate change and abandoned aged highways littering the area. The Vault Hunters travel to T-Bone Junction, an old highway rest stop, to stop whatever the Crimson Lance is planning. With the help from Scooter, they build a new vehicle called the Monster to use on the long highways. Scooter tells the Vault Hunters that the Lance has set up roadblocks on both the north and southbound highways leading out of T-Bone Junction. They must reach Moxxi who is in the Deep Fathoms and they must first clear the roadblock in the Crimson Tollway to reach her. Finding her place on the top of a ruined highway, She shares her plans of another vehicle called the Racer, an upgraded faster version of the Runner that will help them through the roadblock on the Ridgeway, a large highway constructed through an open canyon. The Vault Hunter fight through a large group of Lance troops clearing and opening the route while also fighting through a tunnel to reach the Sunken Sea. They must use the Racer to jump an outcrop that secretly had a highway on-ramp leading to the prison called Lockdown Palace. They find out that Athena was being held prisoner there and the prison leader Shank plans to sell her to the Lance in exchange for her bounty. After fighting through the prison, the Vault Hunters come across a psycho taking a shower. He warns them of Shank who shiv's him in the back for not calling him Mr. Shank. A fight begins with Shank using Athena teleportation device. After killing Shank, the Vault Hunters find Athena in the main prison block. A bandit is shown bringing food to her but drops it on the floor. After meeting Athena, she returns to T-Bone Junction and tells the Vault Hunters through Echo masking her voice with a advertisement for a male enhancement drug. After meeting with Athena, she tells them that the armory is code locked and tells the Vault to find an ECHO recorder. Returning to the Ridgeway, they find a Echo recorder under the highway of the Hell's Highway outpost. They listen in to 2 Lance soldiers talking with one named Derick enjoying Rocky Road ice cream, while the other asked him if he can have the access code. Derick reveals that he leave the code at The World's Largest Bullet, a small attraction in the Sunken Sea with a large artillery shell. They return to Athena who has built a remote detonator that will destroy the armory. With the code and detonator in hand, the Vault Hunter's travel to Road's End, an area on the other side of the Deep Fathoms. They fight the Lance on the highway leading to the armory. They must use the side entrance as the main highway leading into the armory is locked. Entering the compound, they are introduced to General Knoxx who was just about to kill himself with several weapons. Instead of killing himself, he decides to fight the Vault Hunters. After killing General Knoxx, the Vault Hunters can now enter the armory. Using the code from the Echo (Blue, Yellow, Cyan, Orange) they get into the armory, set the timer and have 3 minutes to loot to their hearts desire. In The Secret Armory of General Knoxx logo there is a small 61 in the lower-right corner. This represents the maximum reachable level of this DLC. The level increase, by the unusual number of eleven levels, is a reference to the potentiometer dials of Nigel Tufnel's guitar amplifier in the mockumentary, This is Spinal Tap, apparently to give it "that extra push over the cliff". For other uses, see Lance. Crimson-Lance-Poster-3 Crimson Lance propaganda poster.
The Crimson Lance is the highly trained private military force of the Atlas corporation. They impose a form of dictatorial law upon civilians in their dominion, and are considered by many to be "Serious Badasses".
Contents[show] History When the colonization of Pandora went bad, the Crimson Lance brigade on the planet decided to build a base and fortify it. They are known to heavily prefer the use of military might to get their way.[1]
Some in-game evidence suggests that at some point the Atlas Corporation had employed at least one gang of bandits on Pandora as extra hired goons, but an event occurred which resulted in Atlas deploying the Crimson Lance to wipe out the bandits instead, and take over Old Haven. Similarly, Helena Pierce mentions that they've turned Sanctuary into their fiefdom, requiring Sanctuary's population to be subservient to the Lance.
Involvement Crimson Lance From left to right, an Engineer with his Scorpio Turret, Defender, two Infantry.
As the Vault hunters finish up with bandits in the Arid Badlands area, their acquisition of the first Vault key fragment attracts the attention of the local Lance garrison commander Commandant Steele. She insists that the newcomers hand over any Vault-related findings and promptly silences the transmission.
The Crimson Lance are physically encountered much later in the story, first in Old Haven when smoke signals are witnessed rising from the old town and must be investigated. This is revealed to be a plot to snare bandits, although this action also brings the Crimson Lance into direct conflict with the adventurers, heralding many battles to come.
Some time later, after the defeat of the bandit lord Baron Flynt, Commandant Steele declares martial law on Pandora. At this point the Vault hunters are declared enemies of the Crimson Lance and are to be arrested or killed. The military lock down is witnessed in the Salt Flats as Lance assault pods pepper the area and the Crimson Lance immediately replace much of the area's bandit population.
Many battles ensue as the Vault hunters pursue Steele into the heart of the Crimson Fastness and begin to sabotage the Lance's stranglehold on the planet. Steele escapes however, and leads the chase into a new struggle, pitting the Lance against ancient Guardians tasked with protecting the prize that everyone is seeking, the Vault. This brings about a brutal three-way struggle between the Lance, the Vault hunters and the Guardians, all focused on eliminating the other parties. The Crimson Lance manage to reach the objective first, and with the Vault hunters as witnesses Commandant Steele performs the final act of the Lance; opening the Vault and unleashing the horror within.
Later on, in the third DLC, they are shown to be bringing greater force to bear on Pandora to regain control of the planet, led by General Knoxx, and take revenge on the adventurers. In a propaganda-like message, they blame the Vault Hunters to be thieves and mass murderers who unleashed the Destroyer onto the world and furthermore the Lance claims to have killed it themselves.
General Knoxx however, was irritated with the incompetence of his commander, Admiral Mikey. Knoxx was a battle-hardened soldier and wished to legitimize what he saw as "goddamn nepotism", but when he discovered how the promotion system worked, lost all hope and contemplated suicide. He was just about to kill himself when the Vault Hunters arrived and challenged them, but was killed during the battle.
Following Knoxx's death, Atlas decided to cut their losses on Pandora and abandoned all of stationed personnel. Roland, an ex-Lanceman, saw an opportunity and persuaded most of them to join the Crimson Raiders. Not all wished to join however, and those that didn't either became bandits themselves or joined up with the rest of the Lance in Old Haven, where they were wiped out by Roland and Lilith.
During the time in the Tales from the Borderlands, a group of Crimson Lance soldiers were under the command of General Pollux to protect the Gortys Project in Old Haven. When Athena decided to terminate the project she killed all the Crimson Lance soldiers at the Atlas facility that the Gortys Project was kept. When Athena was done she decied to hunt down Pollux to get his secret about the Project. Later Rhys, Fiona, Sasha and Vaughn discovered all the dead bodies at the facility. Handsome Jack claimed that he destroyed the Crimson Lance, although this was proven to be false with active bases and personnel elsewhere.
Following Rhys' acquisition of Atlas, the Crimson Lance were seen fighting off Maliwan troops in their attempted takeover of the company.

Lilith Fighting Crimson Lance Troops.
The Crimson Lance are the most well-equipped human opponents in Borderlands. They carry weapons and equipment of higher quality than is seen in bandit hands - uncommon or better weapons and modded grenades - and many also use orb shields, while all of them wear body armor. Anyone facing them must take care as their high quality equipment gives them considerable firepower and added lasting power. On the other hand, their being better equipped does mean they will always drop some loot: any combination of the gun, grenade mod and shield they were using. This can make them a prime source of excellent loot particularly in four-player games.
In addition, all Crimson Lance soldiers wear body armor that primarily covers their head, chest, arms and shins. This armor reduces non-elemental bullet damage considerably, making them difficult to kill. Though they have the same weak spot as all other human enemies (the head), their armor also reduces the damage inflicted by head shots, while their movement and constant output of suppressing firepower makes aiming for their heads difficult. A player can aim at their exposed thighs if given no other options. The armor comes not without a price: Corrosive weapons are very effective against them; while the damage-over-time effect is active, corrosion also temporarily weakens their armor, mitigating some of its damage reduction and allowing other attacks to penetrate more effectively. However, take especial care of the occasional Lance soldier equipped with a corrosive resistance orb shield; like any other enemy or player equipped with such a shield, they will flash green when hit.
The ballistic shields wielded by Defenders cover most of their body when they are facing attackers, and any shots striking it will do zero damage. Powerful or sustained shots to their shield can knock it aside, allowing an opportunity to shoot at their bodies or heads. The shields are also not tall enough to completely protect their heads so a decent marksman should be able to shoot over the shield and hit them for critical damage. The shields will also never cover their feet, so if they are not behind other cover this is also a viable target. Lastly, the splash effect from most elemental weapons can often get around the shield to hit the soldiers themselves. Elemental weapons, sniper rifles and automatic weapons are therefore highly regarded for use against Defenders.
Engineers can deploy a Scorpio Turret which supplements their own firepower. Because the Scorpio is stationary and has a fixed fire arc, players can avoid its damage by jumping over it or moving around and outside its range of rotation. The turret is quite durable but vanishes when the Engineer dies, so the Engineer is usually the preferred target. The turret can otherwise be used for Second Wind if it remains exposed when the Engineer gets behind cover.
Finally, Crimson Lance Badasses have a lot more health and even more armor than their ordinary counterparts. All of them wear additional armor plates, including large shoulder guards that block line of sight to their heads from most angles and completely negate bullet damage in that location the same way the shields of Defenders do. Furthermore, every part of their body is covered in damage-reducing armor. They are virtually immune to normal gunfire, though critical hits will still do some damage. They also seem to be more aggressive and more willing to get close or pursue the player during firefights than the rank-and-file Lance mercenaries.
Despite how formidable they are, these Badasses otherwise behave like their respective type. Infantry are very mobile and aggressive; Defenders will have shields and will flinch once these shields absorb enough damage; Engineers will drop Scorpio Turrets. The recommended tactics against their ordinary versions still apply but extra care must be taken. The use of elemental weapons, specifically Corrosive guns, are especially emphasized in dealing with them.
Notes Crimson Lance can occasionally be found wielding Eridian weapons. Such weapons are commonly found on high-level Lance Infantry and Elemental Troopers. The Crimson Lance use assault pods for quick force deployment, which can be seen in the Salt Flats, Crimson Enclave and Eridian Promontory. The pods also appear in The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, where one is used to escape from a horde of zombies. In the third DLC, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, some of these assault pods can be seen arriving from a distance, and standing in the way of the flying rocket's landing zone will result in death due to pod impact. The Crimson Lance operating on Pandora under Commander Steele are part of the Crimson Lance D Company 3rd Starborne Brigade, dispatched under the orders of General Knoxx. Lance soldiers can take a day off for a "personal ice cream leave of absence", code 3.5.31 in the Manual; see video for the ECHO log.
